Amazing experience! The hospitality by the manager - Shamsher ji was truly impressive, making us feel very welcome. The parathas were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Highly recommended for anyone craving great Indian veg food!

This is the best “real” Indian food in the South Island, not only is the food incredible, but the staff is second to none. We started going there six months ago, and now we have lunch there every Tuesday at noon. The great thing about it is we are not Indian so, when we come there they just feed us something different every time. And there deserts are out of this world. It’s so much fun. Love these people. Novelty Sweets & Restaurant serves really tasty food — flavorful, fresh, and nicely presented. Everything came out on time and tasted great. The only thing that could improve is the ordering process — you have to order at the counter, and it can take a while when it’s busy. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable, making it a nice place to enjoy a good meal or dessert. I’ll definitely come back again!

I was there for its opening. And since then visited very frequently. Recent visit marks the final visit from me and my family. We ordered paneer parantha for kids and “Navratri” special thali to share. It had three kuttu puri, aloo subzi, sabutdana kheer and paneer with full blown ginger, garlic if not 100% onion.i Pulled it out from my plate and presented to the staff. Fasting is so sacred and highly disciplined also no onion or garlic is simply common knowledge. Seems like chef were lazy to cook fresh and skim paneer curry from usual batch and presented it as special. Could have been old too who knows. Took my chances by eating out that was on me even worse putting my trust in chef and staff that my spirituality will be honored But this abomination at Novelty was nothing short of incompetence. Soon after it, I was offered another thali, plastered an apology that’s it. No choice of refund or genuine care. Sorry I won’t be back

Had been to novelty few days back looking for good experience in Indian food taste, well i was so excited that i order lot of things at first and they i didnt even eat what i ordered because it didnt had what i was looking for and that was taste. I mean i get it we should not be expecting alot as we are in abroad but i was totally disappointed here as i had tasted the same things i order here and they were better then i tasted here. 1st of all pani puri the masala was just patatoes slices which was lik ok no problem then we had ordered Mysore dosa and when i got it it was like masala dosa with just patato masala still i finished the dosa and not masala but then the soup and vada pav also disappointed us alot that we literally had to leave our food and we went somewhere else.

I ordered the aloo tikki cholay chaat and it didn’t taste good at all. It cost $12 which is quite expensive but I wouldn’t regret paying for that if it tasted good. I only had a few spoons of it and threw the rest. I personally wouldn’t go back there! Better to make some at home at cheaper cost.

Food quality has gone down. worst malai kofta and veg manchurian i ever had. Malai kofta tasted off. Smelled like it was old. And veg manchurian was tasteless and gravy was too watery. I have been regular customer.but wont be coming back as this is the second time i have been disappointed with the quality of food. We ordered malai kofta, kadahi paneer, veg manchurian and naans. Wont recommend to anyone.

It is always a great experience to eat at this place. A good quality, fabulous customer service, and value for money. This is a "must visit" place to enjoy the Indian food, specially the North Indian dishes at Christchurch

  3. Markos ★★★★☆

Very good traditional Indian restaurant with only vegetarian options. Only thing is that the menu is difficult to understand if you are not familiar with those dishes, some further information and pictures would help

This time 0/5 due to some reasons: I went in last month the quality and everything was good as usual. But yesterday’s food was not up to the mark. 1:the prices for everything has drastically gone up Thats not even a problem if the taste & quality of the food is good. But the quality & taste of food has gone low & prices really high. Really disappointed. Probably not going back
