Tired Oriental Warehouse for the first time today. I'd seen reviews about expired food, but ignored them. Don't. We bought tofu and only discovered had been relabelled once we opened it and something wasn't right. It was so far beyond expired that it had to go straight into the garbage bin outside. It was rank. Do not shop here.
This place is wonderful, such a good range, you can spend hours going through everything. Found my favourite vegan drumsticks and vegetarian belecan which I use for homemade sambal. Staff were super helpful and had good suggestions when I approached them. I love the feel of the place, might not be to everyones taste but for me it's as it should be.
Bought a canned ham yesterday and at home I realised that is expired since 5/23! How can you even sale such an old product????? I will contact customer support because this is not acceptable
Rude owners, most items expired beyond years. Avoid!
The place my daughters go to pat the cat while I'm buying a daikon or shopping for ingredients. Love the owners and family
Okay hear me out.. This shop isn't for everyone. The shop cat, the items that are a few years past the best before date. It isn't great. However, this is the most well stocked Asian shop I have seen in my 12 years in NZ. Yes you can smell the shop before you enter, yes the pricing is complicated with hand written signs, yes you have to check the best before for everythinng, yes the owner is sitting on her phone ignoring you. BUT, this is how you know the shop is authentic. (I'm Malaysian so I'm almost ashamed to admit it feels like the shops back home) lol The range of noodles, sauces, stocks, coffees, cutleries is enough to make you stand there for an hour googling what it is. It is a place to be adventurous and to try new things. It's authentic but not for everyone. As for the items that's past its best before, it's a simple case of checking and re-checking in my opinion.
Please be aware of their expired food !!! Some are like 4-5 years old . They have fresh stocks inside their stores but still sells the expired stuff on the actual shelves. When I asked them why they do this ? The owner said, he’ll sell what ever he wants and gave a big attitude! Really shocking to see this happening in NZ !!
Andrew & his wife have been running a very good warehouse for many years. We get many of out specialist supplies for the restaurant from here. Best wishes Nik & Marcus
