To expensive not the same as it use to b they use water in the sauce just to save abit of money, puts me off when they do that makes the food yuck, Chinese man is cool his partner never listens,... $100 plus for 2 people if you a big eaters
Disappointed at the meals we just had. The fat was clearly old, it left a chemical taste in your mouth. It was a waste of snapper. We didn’t eat the bread or the chips or the coleslaw which looked old and dry. This restaurant was the place to go back in the day, not anymore. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Seafood grotto a family favorite. Times are much different now. Despite rising cost for produce the value here is still good for your money. We, ordered a flounder meal and a steak meal with a pot of tea and cold drinks roughly $70. We loved and enjoyed our kai mind you we told them how we wanted our eggs sunny side up! I always ask for Worcester sauce to go with my steak but I had the flounder kai so lemon juice meant a lot and i got it - fresh. You get salt and pepper at your table. If not just ask the friendly waiter. The service always kind. Chef cook with love and expertise. Only issue i wish the napkin were large size to go with their large plate of kai. P. S 2 months old review. Will we go back? Yes! Next time with photos. And here you go whanau. The latest taken today Wednesday 8 October 2025. It was B for beautiful service and E for enough. I ordered the all-day breakfast fish $18 you get buttered bread with hot drinks (tea, coffee or milo).
The most welcoming atmosphere, and heavenly humble food in Hamilton. As an Aucklander, the staff gave me their humblest smiles with aspiring attitudes that deserve a special kind of praise from Auckland. Seafood Grotto has set a standard that can’t be lowered. Thanks for having me over! The hard work won’t go unnoticed. :)
For a long time, I felt as if part of my identity was missing. When I put this fish in my mouth, I felt that what was missing was whole again. The joy that this fish bestowed upon me cannot be described with mere words.
Hi bought Fish Breakfast The fish was so full of oil i could taste it back of my throat so dark? Perhaps old cold oil was used The 12 chips i recieved were dry They have no sweetener So in my cup of tar i just had milk Eggs were soft but again cooked in oil.. No Lemon slice, no sauces offerd There should be healthier options Alot of oil is not good for the health in one sitting For what i paid there should of been at least a lemon wedge and healthier options
I always enjoy eating here the food makes me feel like I'm home and so does the amptmosphre no much around good food good prices.
This place came with a high recommendation and I can see why. I went specifically to buy kina and came out with oysters as well. Great range of seafood. My new "go to" shop next time I'm in Hamilton. Definitely value for money.
