Decent hotel room, we booked the executive studio which was roomy for 2 people. Large windows with ample sunlight in summer. Location of hotel is very good in the heart of Christchurch. Parking available 2 minutes walk from hotel, single exit ticket available at $10.

This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the Terrace and the Riverside Markets. The connecting rooms we had were clean and the staff were helpful - one helped my. Wife with the luggage and another suggested booking directly with Super Shuttle. Breakfast was also great and the lady who was there both days during our stay (she was alone on the 2nd) was absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend this hotel if you're in Christchurch!

Located adjacent to the BNZ centre in Christchurch CBD, great location, super convenient with a short stroll to shops, offices, restaurants and the fresh choice supermarket. Roof top bar also offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, great interior decor. The room was not spacious than expected or on the website. The room I had wasn't street facing and was pretty quiet, will stay again.

When you stay at a hotel, you expect—at the very least—a restful night’s sleep. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible at Christchurch City Hotel. On our first night, we were woken multiple times in the early hours by the sounds of trucks loading and unloading. When we raised this with the front desk, we were assured this shouldn’t have happened. Yet it did. With two more nights ahead of us, we requested a room change, which the staff accommodated, assuring us the new room was on a quieter side of the hotel. Despite this, we were still woken on both subsequent nights by trucks backing up and carrying out loading/unloading activities. When we brought it up again, we were once more told, “This shouldn’t be happening.” We agree—it shouldn’t. But after three nights in a row, it was clear the hotel isn’t adequately soundproofed or equipped to mitigate this recurring issue. The hotel is well located in the centre of Christchurch, but not well located for a restful sleep. I’ve given two stars because some of the front desk staff were understanding and helpful, and the breakfast staff were engaging, generous, and genuinely lovely to interact with.

Loved the place. I’ve tried several hotels in the area and like this the most for its location, rooms and value for money. Loved their rooftop restaurant. I recommend their breakfast that can be included in the booking. Last but not least I loved the firm-ish bed. I feel rested.

This was the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in in my entire life. Getting good quality of sleep here was not possible. Actually, getting any sleep at this hotel was not possible The room this hotel placed me in was next to seven trash dumpsters. One of these trash dumpsters was a disposal for glass and glass bottles. These dumpsters were used all throughout the night. Since the hotel lobby is not staffed to 24 hours, attempting to get this issue resolved in the early morning was not possible. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Beware of this hotel if you are attempting to sleep. See added photos of the dumpsters.

The main problem for us is the limited TV choice. NZ and Chinese channels but no CNN BBC or similar channels. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. Rooms clean and comfortable. The upstairs restaurant is excellent.

Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of this time, but very happy to share some experiences. First, excellent location and is easy to find in the centre, with a lot of shopping areas around and restaurants. The room size is suited for 1-2 people, and nice staff in their reception. All their furniture are new and comfortable except the bed is too soft for my back, but it is not a complain. Comparing other hotels, they have a good value and very nice to travellers.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights just recently, first arrived at the hotel, the reception was polite enough but not as helpful as any front desk staff coud be. The room was clean and comfy, location was fantastic, environment was superb (quite, few hote guests). But somehow my wife lost her wedding ring from our room. We only noticed by the end of the day, and should have picked up earier. Mr. Sui Beng Teh, the hotel manager, made it even worse from a travellers point of view. He has the worse attitude to the whole incident, instead of offering his empathy, he pushed responsibility back to the hotel guests who lost the wedding ring in his room at his hotel. His passive aggression is throughout all the poor google review! He reacted bluntly when questioned about CCTV other than the door access record he could provide immediately, being agreesive at his answer and attitude towards to someone who turned over the room to just look for the missing ring. He was not friendly, empathatic nor welcoming despit he is in hospitality industry. Im not blaming at anyone here or making any accusation on anyone but he as the hotel manager was the only one we could seek help for in a foreign country, and he expected us undedstanding how police and system worked here. To us, he made us sound like idiots and being forgetful on our own properties.
