The dishes were not bad, just need more kicks and oomph (re:salt & MSG). Even the sambal chilli need more heat. However, friendly service and nice decor, helped a lot.

Hearty portions of Asian food. Asian more than just malaysian flavours. The laksa, while flavourful, does not have laksa leaf taste, and tastes more like Thai curry noodles, Khao Soi. Satay was nice, although real ones are more fatty.

The food here is one of the best I’ve ever eaten, especially the mee goreng (delicious), and loads of the other foods is good too. The service is excellent too, the instant we sat down a waiter came over to ask how many people will be in our party, and gave us water as well. The price is also very friendly, 10 dollars for literally a whole plate of noodles?!?! The atmosphere is good too, calming music, works of art on the wall, and a road sign standing in the middle of the shop, adding even more to the already perfect interior of the restaurant. Generally, it’s a 10 out of 10 restaurant, and is very much worth a try.

We Google searched, was between madam woo vs this place. We actually drove to madam woo. When we walked up the stairs to the restaurant, and looked at the menu which had wine, we turned away. As Malaysians, We wanted the Malaysian version of Malaysian food, not fancy Malaysian food. Came to Penang street food instead. Free parking at the front. It’s at the corner of a street. Nice setting on the inside. The manager - Owen was really personable. He is from Melaka. The food- char Kuey teow has β€œwok hei” and was perfectly done. Rendang was delicious ! Fried porn cracker was great ! The teh tarik was so thick and spot on like Malaysia taste. Kids also enjoyed the soya jelly bean drink which was very Malaysian. Other dishes we tried - honey marmite chicken. This was just ok, thought the chicken was a little overfried. But it isn’t quite the normal Malaysian food, we should have gone for other standard Malaysian food like the fish collar rice noodle soup or laksa. We didn’t as we just ate those 2 days prior at another Malaysian restaurant. We also ordered the golden sand squid - the salted egg portion was great, but we were a little full by then. And then we just chatted with Owen for a very long time. He is great, he definitely know the food business and how Malaysian food should taste - as he used to also work at restaurants. I’m a Malaysian foodie and I Would highly recommend this place if u are in town. You won’t regret it !

Everything about our experience here was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quite a tough decision to make with regards to which mean to get but finally made a decision and decided to get the pad Thai. Was absolutely delicious and would definitely make sure to come back again. The portion size is massive and ended up taking the rest home!

Ordered Char Kway Teow, Roti Canai, Teh Tarik and Soya Bean with grass jelly and they are all delicious. I would definitely come back to try other dishes too.

This charming Malaysian restaurant has put Hamilton on the food lover's trail of New Zealand. The Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang was superb. The host was effusively polite, the service was graceful and the food was simply amazing. Make sure you try the amazing authentic Malaysian food on offer. A highlight of my tour.

Finally a great Malaysian food outlet in Hamilton. All the food so far has been great and portion sizes are large. The only complaint is that it is rather pricey but with it tasting that good, won't take marks off.
