It's blocked of public land it's meant to be walk way but there a fences in the way about time the council put a walk way there so it can be used as it's the publics right to do so . You can walk round there it's perfectly legal just know where the boundaries are .
Great place for a family picnic. Waterview is so peaceful. There are ctv monitoring cameras so you can feel safe.
The correct name for this area is Tye Park and its our favourite place to hang out, run the dog, sail the boat, paddle the kayak, BBQ, swim and play. I love the upgrades done to the sea wall, replacing that horrible stone wall. Just need the boat ramp extended for the perfect place to launch small boats and open up the Esplanade Reserve around to Welcome Bay Road for a nice loop walk along the sea edge.
Great little park, swimming at high tide, paddock for running around at low tide. Plenty of trees for shade, water fountain, toilets and views over the harbour to Maungatapu and the Mount beyond. Just be aware, it is locked closed during darkness.
Ideal spot for kids to play and nice water edge for in the summer
