   All I can say is this place is always busy- dodging cars and pedestrians, crazy. The prices are reasonable, but the brands we like are no longer in the store. A common brand, been on the shelves forever are either dearer, been replaced or non-existent. Dairy, Meat, Fruit and vegetables our main staplers are still priced too high, imagine the food safety and health compliance. Cost and waste.

   Prices just keep going up.... on EVERYTHING!! The bacon we usually purchase every shop is usually $7.49... but today it was on SPECIAL for $8.99!! Update ** Pricing 10th December 2024, the same bacon at the Extra Low price of $9.49!!! Update ** Pricing 8th July 2025 at the Extra Low Price of $9.99!! Update ** Pricing 2 December 2025 $11.49 Please teach your checkout operators how to properly pack a trolley - note, cleaning products, liquids should NOT be placed on top of or next to fresh meat.

   I had a very disappointing experience at Pak’nSave Rotorua on 18/11/2025 at around 8:50 pm. The Manager/Supervisor on duty (an Indian lady) spoke to us in a very rude and unprofessional manner. I understand that staff must request ID for liquor purchases. I had accidentally left my ID in the car, so I asked my friend—who had her own valid ID—to purchase the liquor instead. Despite this, the supervisor raised her voice, refused to sell to either of us, and even removed the box of liquor from our cart, even though we had picked it up before 9:00 pm. When we calmly told her that we were okay with the decision but would appreciate polite communication, she called security on us and claimed we were arguing, which was not the case at all. We were simply trying to understand the situation and express that her attitude was unnecessary. This behaviour felt extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Someone representing a big brand like Pak’nSave should know how to speak to customers politely, even when enforcing store policies. The way she handled the situation created an unpleasant and unfair experience. I hope management can address this issue so future customers are treated with courtesy and respect.

   Cheap prices and lots of choices. Big store with fresh fruit and veggies. Staff are friendly. It is easy to find and has a fuel station, too. Good place to save money on groceries.

   The security staff at the front of the store was friendly and welcoming. The checkout staff equally so. As with many Pak n Save stores, the seafood bar was a little fishy (fresh fish should be odourless).

   Speedy helped us get some items that weren’t on the shelf. Lovely guy to chat to, told us he’s been working here for 40+ years and was just such a delight. You need more Speedy’s in your store!

   Got a few bargains tho grocery prices ever on the up there was still a few bargains at paknsave cf new world & countfown in cambridge and matamata, plus 6c a litre off petrol which was cheaper than matamata so went well towards whatever it cost to drive from work in Cambridge and home from Rotorua after the home show - along with the savings from getting our weekly sushi fix at St pierre in rotorua rather than local in matamata
