Very clean, modern rooms and amenities. Close to city sites. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful from reception to the restaurant especially Jun who I only had the pleasure of emailing but super helpful with any request we had. Thanks Rydges team, outstanding!

Had a really good experience at Rydges Latimer Christchurch with my Lion group from Taiwan. I was struggling to find a place to park the coach, and Lama from the Front Office came out straight away to help. He showed me the possible parking spots and then personally guided my group through reception to the restaurant. Even though he was busy at the front desk, he still made sure everything went smoothly for us. We had dinner at Bloody Mary’s, and the restaurant was great. Everyone had steak booked, but since I don’t eat steak, they kindly arranged chicken for me. The food was really good and the whole team looked after us well. Big thanks to Lama and the staff at Rydges for making our visit easy and welcoming.
Great location but the room needs some love. I spoke with the manager and reported the following. He weived the parking fee but that resolution isn't sufficient for me to want to stay there again. The room is fine. Nothing fancy, but it does the trick. The problems were related to cleaning, maintenance, and internet. I found multiple long hairs on the bathroom floor and whiskers on the vanity. The bathroom door squeeked so loudly when opening and closing that it woke my sleeping partner. The shower door isn't sealed properly and the ensuing flooding required all the towels in the room to sop up. Finally, the internet speed test results were 7.43 down and 2.44 up — that's slower than ADSL speed. Good luck checking your email, let alone doing a business zoom. In a country with internet as good as NZ's this simply isn't good enough. My criteria for a good room is a good comfort bed, that it be clean, that it has a good shower, and has strong internet. The room only passed one of those criteria. The shoddy resolution was the icing on the cake of this review. The right thing to do would have been to discount the stay.
We stay here as a family everytime we come to Christchurch. Safe parking. Clean quiet rooms. Good gym and good quality restaurant. Only complaint would be no flexibility on the beds. Really need a queen bed with two twin bed combo for a family of 4.
Given feedback to the staff on some rooms. Other than that, front staff absolutely lovely and will do anything to acommodate some requests. If youre looking for a good feed, the bar menu suffices for a great feed. The bar staff too, 'surprise me' leads to some awesome new drinks I'd never thought of as a Rum drinker, hats off to Malcom for providing a great atmosphere with friendly service.
Front house very pleasant :) Bed was great so comfy!! Not a lot of variety to choose from for vegetarian off menu/ room service. Unfortunately we were charged twice for room, so now have to wait for the refund :(
We recently visited Christchurch on an Air NZ Mystery weekend we were gifted. Rydges Latimer was the accommodation we were given, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Excellent central location, the service was amazing, and the facilities were really good (the on-site restaurant Bloody Mary's is a must do the buffet breakfast served every morning was a highlight). The rooms were really clean and warm, and the bed was super comfy. 10/10 would stay here again.
The room was quite large, well appointed with a large double and a single bed, nice bathroom and spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly. The breakfast is one of the best buffet type breakfasts I have ever seen. Hot food was excellent, there were some really nice fluffy pancakes, maple syrup, really good range of fruit, coffee, muesli, cold meat, cheese bread and etc and all very good quality. Staff at breakfast were particularly helpful and nice. The location is great, walking distance to the center of town a matter of minutes. Highly recommended.
