Everything is perfect during my stay! Spacious, clean, comfy bed, cooling aircond, heated water, walking distance to town.
Sorry for the late review! I stayed here last November during my honeymoon, and everything was great. The room was clean, and the bathroom was spacious. There’s also a small pantry where you can cook simple meals. The location is convenient , not too far from Westfield Mall, and there are several nearby shops offering delicious Chinese food. Oh, and if you’re driving, they have parking available too! I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re stopping in Christchurch and flying out in the next few days.
Cramped Room and Extremely Rude Host Our room was so cramped that we could only sit on the bed. The stool was stuck in the narrow passage and couldn’t be pulled out conveniently. we could only open our carry-on suitcase on the kitchen floor and we would constantly trip over it. The bathroom sink was tiny, with no space for women’s toiletries, and the faucets were so stiff that adjusting the water flow and temperature was a struggle. The air-conditioning units were loud, and we could even hear the outside units from other rooms. There was also something wrong with the smoke alarm battery and it went off several times during the night. Besides, the poor blackout curtains left the room bright all night, affecting our sleep. Worst of all, on the day of checkout, my husband left at 7:30 am to run some errands and I planned to catch up on some sleep until checkout time, the owner banged on the door at 10 am sharp and snapped at me the moment I opened it for not leaving before 10:00, rudely demanding I go. I was simply trying to be considerate by taking ten minutes to do some basic cleaning — separating recyclables, wiping the sink and kitchen counter, tidying up the floor and the bed a bit as of my own habit（you can see from the photos）— instead of just rushing to pack my things and leave. I was about to leave anyway, and because I did some cleaning, I was only a few minutes late for checkout. I still managed to leave at 10:06, and if the owner hadn’t spent two minutes lashing out at me — plus the half minute I wasted feeling upset — I could have left by 10:03. It was absurd. I have never encountered a host this rude, nor have I ever been judged with such malice and treated with such hostility throughout my years of travel accommodation, including over ten years of living in New Zealand. The owner’s extremely rude behavior made me feel completely disrespected. During my two-night stay, I caused no trouble, no damage, and made no unreasonable requests. Yet I was scolded and shouted at not because I was still lying in bed after 10:00, not because I left half an hour late, ten minutes late, or even one minute late — but because at exactly 10:00 I was already being yelled at. He couldn’t tolerate even a single minute I stay in the room, which made me feel not like a guest, but like his enemy. His disrespectful conduct made me feel discriminated against as an Asian — otherwise, it is simply unreasonable to knock on a guest’s door at the exact checkout time just to verbally abuse and drive them out. Even for a usually easygoing reviewer like me, this experience compelled me to speak up.
Good area, clean and tidy. Great bed. Only annoying thing was the fan going in the bathroom everytime someone went in. So middle of night fan would run if someone went to the loo. But only a minor thing still a nice place to stay. Was very quiet for our stay.
A nice motor lodge , with a special deco theme on music . The staff are friendly and rooms are clean . Bus stop is in front of the lodge and is easy to use public transport to get around the area. The price is reasonable.
Best motel I've ever stayed in. Lovely, spotless, beautiful. The lady at reception was absolutely wonderful
We were impressed with Riccarton Motor Lodge, it was lovely and clean, cosy and comfortable with some little xtra touches which made us feel special. Reasonably priced and good value, excellent and locatìon cld not be better as a central hub to everywhere in Christchurch and their bus service really good ss you can catch a bus in Riccarton to go anywhere in Christchurch. Only 20 min walk to Riccarton Mall and 20min drive to Christchurch central. Luv it!

Never stayed just visiting family who stayed here. Units was very nice and clean.
