it’s not a scam in the sense of “fake company stealing money,” but it is a high-pressure marketing strategy disguised as a prize. The email communications are strategically worded to encourage buying beyond the stated prize. This unfortunately out weighs all other positives about the company, the staff, the professionalism and the photos overall. I wouldn’t return because of the pressure to buy.
Very friendly team. Excellent communication from Emma, making it personal by phoning and then confirming discussion per email. Photographer knew our names (we were a group of 6, with Afrikaans names), this made us feel even more "celeb" like infront of his camera. Layout meeting was so good, with Gaye's awesome/experienced ideas, our family portrait looks fabulous. I would have loved to have access to more than just the 5 photo's I've decided on, but overall great experience.
Steve is awesome from the get go helping my with choosing the right frame and mat to enhance my artwork. The result was outstanding and was delivered earlier than expected in a very high quality service. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend SPH to those looking for a great service and high quality frames.
I "won" a prize with Seddon Portrait House and was excited to go get some family photos. However, to be honest I was pretty disappointed when I turned up for our photos, to find out that the prices for purchasing the photos and frames were ridiculously priced. Over $2000 for an album of 16-20 photos, it just over priced and to be honest a rip off. I just got married and paid a photographer $2500 for over 600 photos of the day. In comparison to this service it seems like a bit of a scam. You can also pay other photographers less and get an album made online for a fraction on the price. While I understand they offer warrenties and framing to protect photos, the price for these photos are just not worth it. I personally think think their marketing is completely wrong. Targeting families who more than likely have lower incomes to "win" a photoshoot is ethically wrong. You then have all these amazing photos that you would love to have of you family, but can not pay for it. They offer to pay off the photos, which I think is terrible making families get into further debt. If their marketing was targeted at high earners who could pay for photos then I would have no issue with this business. As I did go in and took my whole family, I did end up purchasing one print, which cost me $160 for small photo. The photos were great quality, this is the only reason I am giving this business 2 stars. The product is great. The cost is over priced. The customer service is good. The way they get their customer through the door is terrible. Would not recommend to anyone based on the scammie way the obtain customers.
So so so disappointed. Won the so called prize… over 2,000 for an album that may include less than 20 images. That was definitely not what I heard from the guy over the phone!!! Yes they may be well professionally done but that is just way too much money. and after the photo shoot, everyone was feeling sorry that we even took the time to go. Should have read the reviews Just like everyone else has mentioned on here who gave them a one star rating- what A con!

Scam of a “prize”… they hand it out heaps and they expect you to pay $2499 for a book with 16 photos with digital copies. If you “win” don’t bother redeeming… there’s heaps of experienced freelancers for a fraction of the price, and they’ll give you all the good photos they take!
Absolutely loved our experience at Seddon Portrait House. This was very new for our family and it was awesome the way everything was explained and how we were listened to. Our portraits capture our family perfectly and look amazing in our home. We will definitely be back in a year or two to capture more memories with you!
