   Poor customer service is Partridge’s forte. Stood inside the store looking at their display, books and magazines for easily 10 minutes, not a single engagement from the staff. Not even eye contact. One female staff member was helping another customer but then he left. She continued on her laptop and could have easily helped me but decided best to look down at her screen not up at an interested customer. It’s not like the store is super busy there was only one customer before me and me just lurking around looking at their displays. Also observed another young male staff member outside chatting away with the security guard whilst I walked in. Was literally walking out the door before this young salesman asks if I like any assistance. I did respond rudely after frustration but returned into the store to look at a particular Rolex. However, the body language (arms crossed), lack of eye contact and interaction from this staff member, who made no effort in making any connection with me. This review would have been 1 star if he didn’t try to interact with me as I left. He only improved to 2 star by showing me the watch. It seems to me, poor customer service is an ongoing trend with Partridge staff. Experienced something similar earlier this year in Queenstown and Wellington not a single hello while looking around the store. Auckland is slightly better but not by much. Honestly, with the amount of money I’m required to would spend in their stores, you expect a different level of service. Even The Warehouse staff treat customers better than this. I hope upper management sees this review and takes proper action in training their staff on customer service. This type of behaviour really hurts the company’s branding as it is consistently poor in all branches.

   I was about to give up on PJ. I had been frequenting their stores in Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch. Over the years, the level of service that I got were at the opposite end of the spectrums, no different from New Zealand weather. I am into watch collection. For 6 years, I was given the impression that I was in the waiting list, and I was in the database. This year, it was brought to my attention that I was never in the database, and if I were never in the database, I would never have a shot in getting notified of the watch release. Am I surprised by it? Not at all. On a whim, I decided to pop into its newly renovated store in Christchurch. It's sumptuous, grand, & expansive. There were staff talking among themselves (rather normal). And there was this under-dressed Asian (me). Then, there was Vivian - bright and kind eyes, non-judgmental, held her conversation with a smile on her face, and asking, "how may I assist you?" It's music to my ears. For the last 6 years, avoidance of eye contact is the name of the game. That's truly a momentous moment for me. Shopping isn't a chore, but enjoyable when we do not need to explain ourselves. Vivian gets it. Her knowledge of watch comes back to her pedigree of growing up among watches, being tutored by the best in the business, her Papa. Vivian helped me tying up all the loose ends, and I ended up acquiring a watch to add to my collection after 6 years of waiting over nothing. I hit a "reset" button with PJ. In PJ book, I will basically still be a nobody, a number in the statistics, but I take comfort knowing that there is Vivian, who is determined to assist me in building up my watch collection. I thank Vivian for her humanity, understanding, and compassion. If you were in Christchurch looking for a knowledgeable consultant who is passionate in the crafts of watches and jewelleries, and who will give you the time of the day, you won't go wrong in asking for Vivian.

   If you're in PJ to buy a watch or jewelry, you must look for Vivian—her service is absolutely outstanding! She quickly helped me find my dream watch and was incredibly detail-oriented, covering every aspect with care. Vivian is warm, professional, and genuinely kind.    Really bad workmanship on my Rolex watch. The screws has been forcefully twisted and dented. Email the SA and no reply. Only found out when I went back to my local AD for a resize. The photos are shown. Disappointed as an appointed Rolex AD, you should know how to resize and handle it with care. I bought it on 27/7/25. Update 08/08/25: Dear Grant, I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for the outstanding service and attention you provided in resolving the recent issue. It’s rare to see such dedication and hands-on involvement from a company owner, and your prompt action and professionalism truly stood out. Your commitment to customer satisfaction did not go unnoticed, and it has reaffirmed my confidence in your company. I sincerely appreciate the effort you put into making things right. Thank you once again for going above and beyond.

Although many of the watches I initially wanted to see weren’t available, the team went above and beyond—encouraging me to try on as many as I liked with no pressure to buy. Their patience and professionalism truly stood out. A special thanks to Jordan, who took exceptional care of me. He was a true star—going so far as to come in on his day off just to assist with my purchase. That level of dedication is rare and deeply appreciated. I also want to commend Chris, the boutique manager, for setting such a high standard of leadership. His humility and gentlemanly manner were evident throughout. He even personally walked me outside to show where the men’s room was located—such a thoughtful gesture that speaks volumes about his character. If you’re ever in Christchurch and looking for a premium watch boutique experience, I can’t recommend Partridge Jewellers Christchurch highly enough.    My wife and I were looking for both an engagement ring as well as wedding rings. Found this one on the map, says Rolex watch retailer on the facade but actually does a good collections of rings too. Both Joy and Cass were nice, friendly, professional and helpful. We went there three times, first time browsing the rings and getting a feel, they patiently introduced many details and 101 knowledge about diamond rings. The second time we went in and decided which ones to buy with the help of Cass, she also helped to confirm the deliver dates because the need of resize. The third time we got a phone call from Cass saying the rings are ready as promised and we picked them up. The entire experience was great and we felt like the staff were serious and dedicated in business. We will come back later for an aniversary ring I'd say.
