   TLDR: Disappointed and would not recommend when it comes to airport collection purchases, if at all. I went into Michael Hill last Monday, asking if it was possible to purchase an engagement ring, and get it resized and picked up before I leave the country (to propose) which was in 10 business days. I was upsold a ring which was out of budget, being told that the repayments were affordable on a Q Mastercard + Black Friday discounts + Duty free if I collected it from Auckland Airport. I believed them, and was assured that 10 business days was plenty of time to have it done and ready for collection. So I made my down payment and left the store. Roughly 3 days later I received a call from one of the representatives, saying the ring has just returned to this store and was ready for collection, slightly confused I agreed and was ready to leave when I received another call from the same representative. The ring was to be sent to Auckland Airport and I was advised that I will not be able to pick it up otherwise the duty free discount would not apply. I obliged and asked them if it would make it to Auckland Airport in time, they reassured me that it would as it would be sent out at close of business day. The following Monday from that week, I was called into the store to sign a what looked like duty free declaration form. (At this point I was getting slightly frustrated at how this was never mentioned from the beginning.) I asked for a third time, if the ring would be available for pick up, they told me for a third time that it will and that a confirmation notice will be sent out. I received the Collection Point confirmation notice via email and then had no contact from the team. Fast forward to today, the day I fly out. Around noon, out of pure curiosity I called into Auckland Airport Collection Point to ask if there was a ring under my name that was ready for collection later this evening. The advised me that an order had been put through, but there was no item available. They told me to contact the original retailer. I went into the store to ask them what was going on, I was told that they were currently on hold with NZ Post and that they will get back to me within the hour. An hour goes past and the manager begins to apologise, saying that he doesn't know what happened but the ring will not be available for collection in time. Distraught, and fed up with the failure of service, I demanded a full refund which they provided upon me returning all the relevant documents along with the empty box they gave me. It makes you wonder, what would've happened had I never called up Auckland Airport to begin with.. now I leave here with no engagement ring and only bitter feelings. That is my one and last experience with Michael Hill, all they sold me was an empty ring box and a whole lot of disappointment.

   I had the most amazing experience with Samara at Michael Hill. Her customer service was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. She was warm, patient, and genuinely cared about helping me find exactly what I was looking for. Samara went above and beyond to make sure I felt confident and happy with my choices, and her knowledge made the whole process so easy. I’m so impressed that I’ll definitely be back — and I’m bringing my partner with me! I’ve already told him that when it comes time to get an engagement ring, we’re going straight to Samara. Michael Hill is incredibly lucky to have her. Highly recommend seeing Samara if you want a stress-free, friendly, and professional experience!

   My husband bought me a bracelet from Michael Hill for my birthday. The first time I wore it, the catch kept opening and it kept falling off. I brought it back to the store, and they gave me a new one - which did the exact same thing. The manager said it was a product issue as he had seen it before with this bracelet, and finally offered a refund after I said didn't want another bracelet from the store instead. As it wasn't bought by me, he said my husband would need to come in with his card to process the refund. My husband went back a few days later, and was told they wouldn't give a refund, but would instead send it to be repaired. Picked it up after "repair" and the catch failed again the first time I wore it!! Finally got a refund after weeks of wasted trips over and back. Absolutely frustrating that Michael Hill continue to sell a bracelet with a known manufacturing issue.

   Pro: Honestly, there's a small chance you meet a genuine salesperson who is happy to accommodate to your requests and budget. Con: There's a big chance you get a blunt and very pushy salesperson. My partner and I went in to browse engagement rings. She tried a few but the lady serving us was SO BLUNT and SO PUSHY. "Let's sort finance", "What's your income?", "You need to get a ring on her". As soon as I made it clear WE ARE BROWSING, she lost interest and was so over us. Update: The salesperson sent me a text message 2 days later enquiring about the ring. I will potentially buy it, but not through her. Some of the staff need to chill, be genuine and not force people with pressuring questions.

   I have the rhodium done each year to protect the life of my rings. The cost has always been around $45-55 for each item. Well I had it done last week and am about to pick them up to be told that it is now $100 per item. (Over double the cost).Which I was not told of the increase otherwise I would have gone else where as Michael Hill is charging an extortionate amount more that other dealers. The sales assistant advised that they had just put up the cost last week to $120 PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE AS THERE ARE BETTER JEWELERS OUT THERE THAT DONT RIP YOU OFF.

   When are Michael Hill going to digitize their warranty system?? Absolutely ridiculous that you pay thousands of dollars and hundreds of dollars for repair warranties and they are not backed up by a fool proof modern system. It is clear they are hoping you will lose your receipts sp they don't have to honor the warranties. 2 stars due to when getting the jewelry checked + cleaned the staff were friendly, chatty and didn't try sell anything to me.
