A pleasant swim training session, very well staffed with the friendly team members supporting swimmers and operating professionally. Active monitoring and following up on special requests

Real Pity they didn't rebuild QEII pool with an olympic sized swimming pool, and kept the 2 hydroslides (they used to have 1 fast and 1 slow one), now they only have 1 and still same half size pool. No wave pool anymore, just a smaller "lazy river" and 2 small play pools. The hydrotherapy pool is great for doing physio, but there's no one there (or even advertising there) that you can book in with so it's like going to see your physiotherapist, but in the pool. So I got some exercises I could do in the hydrotherapy pool from my usual physio, but it's not the same if they're not there. I became a pool member for 11.33 per week (community service card discount), so I can go whenever I want and if all I can manage that day is 4 laps in the morning and 4 at night I don't feel like I've wasted $5+ each session, to basically be in the pool for a whole 6 minutes. Staff are always helpful. I do recommend avoiding public holidays (like labour day) especially with kids. There were up to 60minute delays to get into the kids pools and hydroslide. Haven't been in the sauna, don't want to, so can't comment on it.

I had such a fun day at Queen Elizabeth II Park with the family! The water park was definitely the highlight β€” the kids loved the splash pads and water slides, and the large pool was perfect for cooling off. I was really impressed with how children friendly the whole place is. There are plenty of shallow areas for the little ones and lots of lifeguards around, which made me feel at ease. After all the water play, we stopped by the great cafe on site. The food and coffee were surprisingly good, and it was nice to sit down and recharge before heading back for more swimming. The whole place is really well maintained and clean, and there are plenty of spots to sit and relax if you just want to watch the kids play. I’d definitely recommend Queen Elizabeth II Park for a family day out β€” we’ll be back!

Staff are great without a doubt. However, We come here every weekend for swimming lessons for the kids and more often than not they are at capacity. So we have to wait around. I'm not sure if it's a staffing issue or just because the council loves to down size everything post earthquake but either way it's unsatisfactory.

If you want to swim, gym or relax with the kids, then QEII Recreation and Sport Centre covers everything. We went there for swimming. It think it's a biggest recreation centre in Christchurch. One of my friend told me that it was constructed for Commonwealth games. It has Fitness Centre , Indoor Pool, Leisure Pool and hydro-slides. For hydro-slides, you have to pay 7 dollars extra. Enough parking space is available.
