Star of India Putaruru – Best in Town I’ve tried the other Indian place in Putaruru, but this one is easily the best. Honestly, it’s the best Indian I’ve had since Wellington. Flavours are rich, portions are generous, and the food is always fresh. The garlic could be a touch stronger for my taste, but it’s not a deal-breaker at all. Still absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
The Chicken madras was okay and very mild tasting. The mixed pakora was pretty nice but the mint yogurt sauce taste a bit off. There was some scotch pad left stuck by the handle and in the curry - I thought that was a little bit gross. Overall it was an okay experience.
Stopped in on our way through town and were treated to the most delightful and delicious meal. It was piping hot and some of the best Indian cuisine I’ve ever had. The food hall isn’t the best place to hang out (not the restaurant’s fault) so it’s a great option for takeaway or a picnic. Highly recommend!

Most delicious Indian curry and naan bread I've had in a long time, maybe ever! Chicken Tikka Masala with cheesey garlic naan was cooked and seasoned perfectly, plus true Basmati long rice. As my friend said "it was a shining beacon in my day". Friendly staff too. Go!
Amazing food!! Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. This restaurant is situated in a quiet food court in Putaruru with the most delicious Indian food I’ve had in NZ (being from Auckland) with the shef/store owner from North India the food was absolutely sublime. Highly recommend you try it out
Lovely family business, always happy to serve you no matter what time. Indian food is always delicious we have tried a lot of the menu now and cant fault any of the food we have had, also wonderful fast service. Enjoy :)
