Called in for a quick bite on my way north, convenient on State Highway 1 with plenty of parking out front. Great price for a Hawaiian burger, steak burger and a scoop of chips, $20. Great chips and honest burger for the price. Very fast to prepare too. Will call in again on the next trip.

Got Chicken Chop Suey last week. A bit of broccoli, cauliflower and carrot and some stuff resembling Chicken served in a great big pool of glug that reminded me of the clear looking glue we used to use at primary school in the 70's. I've had Chinese all around the world and NZ over a great many years and this is the worst I've ever had. The only reason I've given them 1 star is because the customer waiting area was tidy. Don't go here even if you have a 1% interest in your health.
Used to have a grt reputation for grt food ..know of a lot of truckies who used to drive the 5.5 hrs after getting off the ferry to take their meal break in Putaruru just to have a feed of Canton Chinese food..truckies know and like their food so know all the best places for GD food and GD value for money..was hugh advertising for little ole Putaruru Canton and Putaruru in general...since these new owners have taken over the price's have gone thru the roof..the dishes are not as full as they used to be and the food is certainly not as GD as it once was....the chicken chow mein is virtually all veges and had hardly any pieces of chicken in it...the sweet and sour pork is obviously precooked and they just reheat it..the batter ends up too crunchy and hard to eat and the meat is always tough and chewy..not nice at all ...which is a shame as it was always my favourite go to dish from the Canton of the past...used to do really nice burgers too but they are no where as GD now...very disappointed in Putaruru Canton now so have decided we won't be going there anymore and will be finding another takeaway place to be our new local
Amazing food! The best Wonton Soup, Chicken Fried Noodle and Lemon Chicken I have ever had, incredibly fast service and very impressed!
The fish was not nice. Potato fritters and fish were very thin and covered thickly in batter. The chips were nice.
