Absolutely disgusting. Dirty room, dirty spa, bedding not clean! Additional, the fire alarm went off twice during the night (by the same not so lovely person). After fire trucks arrived, took staff ages to get onto site to put off the alarm. Do NOT recommend. Not happy!
No frill hotel. No aircon. 2nd visit shared twin. Yes! Friendly staffs. Yes! Cool kids safe space. Fully fenced cold water pool. Although suits single budget the door only lock when you know how its done eg call staff! Had an early AM appointment apopo!
Not a hotel I would recommend. My first night was terrible — I got no sleep due to a broken, squeaky single bed that desperately needs replacing. Throughout the night, I could hear the plumbing pipes every time someone used the bathroom in the room above me. The next day I was moved to another room, but it had a musty, unpleasant smell; even after using air freshener, it only masked the odor briefly. Overall, it was not a pleasant stay — I left feeling tired and drained. The entire place really needs a full upgrade.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. My room was nice and tidy, well maintained, comfortable bed, easy access to the motel and lots of parking spaces. The Managers and Staff are also very polite, friendly, approachable and helpful. The best thing about my room was the big spa bath, it was so relaxing and with the jets going made it that much better, I'm about 6'2 and could comfortably lay in there. I will definitely be staying here again as I travel to Hamilton roughly every 12 days to see my two young daughters who also loved the place. If you're looking for an affordable place, tidy facilities, easy parking, comfortable rooms and friendly approachable staff then I'd highly recommend The Alcamo. Probably a great place in the 1980s. Great spa bath. Out of date so needs to be bought into the 21st century. Only one power point by the TV across the room. The ancient heater stopped working halfway through the night. The back up heater didn't reach the single power point. Was a cold night. Wouldn't need to do much to bring the ratings up, just assume TLC.
Unsure If stated online but this place does emergency housing. Rooms look like they are barely cleaned,if at all. Looks like the door was once kicked it and lock didn't work properly. Didn't stay , got a refund and walked out. Furniture stacked up outside rooms, dogs locked in cars. Don't recommend.
Large room with tea making facilities and crockery and cutlery for takaway meals. Bathroom with spa bath. Facilities a little tired but clean and well kept. The staff were superb, friendly and helpful going second mile.
We stayed here for a weekend to do some e-biking on the Te Awa track. Although the motel is a little tired, we had a great spacious room with spa bath, cooking facilities and excellent bed and linens - consequently we had a great night's sleep. What stood out for us was the excellent service at reception - we were able to get secure storage for our bikes, even on the day we left so that we were able to visit Hamilton Gardens - a treat in its own right. Pictures versus reality a completely different story. This motel needs to be renovated old, musty carpets. Our room had a spa bath with shower no consideration of health and safety especially for elderly they aren't able to get into the tub and out as there is no steps and the tub is set so high. Half of the amenities included in our room didn't work and no sign pool was closed for maintenance.
