   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Outstanding – Food, Service & Beachfront Ambience Second to None What an incredible experience. From the moment we sat down, it was clear this place is something special. The location alone is breathtaking — right on the beach with uninterrupted ocean views, a refreshing sea breeze, and a relaxed coastal vibe that instantly puts you in holiday mode. Easily one of the best café settings anywhere. The service was exceptional: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever being intrusive. Everything arrived promptly, and the staff carried that perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. And the food… outstanding. Beautifully plated, generous, and absolutely bursting with flavour. The mince on toast deserves a special mention — hands down the best mince on toast in the South Island, rich, hearty, perfectly seasoned, and topped with poached eggs cooked to perfection. The vibrant beetroot spread and fresh herbs lifted the whole dish even further. The toasted sandwich was another winner — golden, crunchy, and full of flavour, perfectly paired with crisp house-made chips. A truly top-tier experience in every respect. Stunning setting, brilliant service, and food made with real care. Couldn’t recommend more highly — an absolute must-visit

   I love the food here! We always manage to get a seat even without a booking, and the service is consistently excellent. The food never disappoints—especially the crispy, fresh chips. I’ve tried the fish and chips, the chowder, and my go-to, eggs benedict—which I always finish! Everything’s delicious, and the ocean view makes it even better.

   The service and atmosphere are worth it. Not so much the food. The vegan burger was dry, the sauce underwhelming. And it was pricey. Same comment from my husband who had the fish and chips. Unless the price drops I would not go back for a meal. They do have good coffee.

   My very first time to Sumner Beach, such a wonderful place for surviving lovers. The restaurant locates on a great location, the main entrance to the beach. Outdoor seats for great sea view. Reasonable price, grear service, delicious foods, definitely the ideal venue for a good meal, and a good time.

   Beach bar is a MUST try! Best food I have had in New Zealand! (Try the lamb shoulder, you will not regret it) The service from Sofie and Ava was AMAZING as well! As soon as you walk into the door of this place, the views take your breath away. If you are heading to Christchurch, take the extra drive to come here. Well worth it!

   Fish and chips. For $28.50 I just expect more fish than this! Tasty enough, but not so good as to warrant the tiny portion of fish. Comparable restaurants I've been to gave twice this much fish for similar price! I've noticed other photos showing this meal with much larger pieces of fish, yet when I asked the waitress, she said this was the normal size...

   Thanks for all in beach bar! Everything is perfect and staff is really nice for help even if it’s in lunch rush hour! Meals are beautiful especially the mushroom pizza! Thanks all staff in beach bar and I really enjoyed a great time!
