Absolutely beautiful and delicious lamb shank! The garlic cheese naan is the best in town! Warm hospitality too! This is definitely a hidden gem in Christchurch! Highly recommend!
Unbelievable menu here and such a happy and polite host. Enjoyed the monster roast lamb along with the dumplings and prawns. I forgot to photograph the entrees but they were plentiful and delicious. The baked banana dessert was brilliant too. An outstanding meal to rival any pub meal in Christchurch for the options available. There are numerous options from burgers to curries to hind lamb and a rib eye if you wish. Check out the memorabilia of Everest too and Hiliary - hence the name.
Yesterday, we made a special visit to the restaurant because of its very high rating. This is a very small restaurant that can house about ten tables. We ordered their pork ribs and two plates of red eye steaks. As we arrived at the restaurant very early, all the tables were empty. The food was served quickly. The ribs were pre-cut, and the size was small. Upon first trying the meat, it was soft and lacked the grilled, fire-roasted flavor. We ordered the red eye steaks to be served medium and medium-rare, but it turned out the steaks were prepared medium and well done. The fries were good and well prepared. Overall, the service was okay, as the staff couldn't understand and communicate with us well, except for the boss.
The portions, quality, and service were absolutely fantastic. The lamb shank was tender and succulent, and the pork belly skin perfectly crispy. Kudos to the chef for crafting such a delicious dish in a sustainable way. No surprise it holds a 4.9 rating!
Absolutely amazing place to have dinner. Staff was super friendly and very welcoming. Food was incredible and the serving size is incredible. Will definitely be back. Thank you for such an amazing first impression of Hillary House.
This place is a wee gem, we will definitely be back, best parmy I’ve ever had and the meal sizes are more than decent! Amazing, this is definitely our new local place to dine
Excellent food and great service. We made a bit of an error not knowing there was exclusions for the grab one but the chef was very gracious about it. We look forward to coming back in future to try more of the dishes. Thanks

Visiting for two weeks from Vancouver Canada and the roast lamb here was the best thing I have eaten in New Zealand! I wasn’t sure how good the restaurant was going to be at first, but once they brought the food out, and I had the first bite, I had to give 5 stars! So good! My photo doesn’t do it justice.
