Lucky Star Fish & Chips / Chinese Food Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Based on value and hygiene) The Vibe: A classic, no-frills neighborhood takeaway spot (located at number 267) offering a mix of Kiwi deep-fried staples and Chinese cuisine. Highlights: * Unbeatable Value: The "Burger Specials" are a standout—getting 2 Ham Burgers for $8.00 or 2 Fish Burgers for $10.50 is incredibly cheap. * Hygiene: They proudly display an 'A' Grade Food Safety certificate, which is a reassuring sign for a local takeaway. * Lunch Deals: The $9.50 Lunch Specials (e.g., Chicken Fried Noodles, Sweet & Sour Pork) are great for a budget-friendly midday meal. Menu Snapshot: * Deep Fried: Fish ($3.50), Hot Dogs, and Squid Rings ($8.00 for 6). * Chinese: Extensive selection including Chow Mein, Egg Foo Young, and Fried Rice dishes ranging from $14.00–$17.00 for full meals. * Sides: Prawn crackers are just $2.50 a bag. Verdict: If you are looking for a wallet-friendly feed with solid hygiene standards, this is a great local option. It’s perfect for a quick lunch or a cheap family dinner pack.

The quality, taste and flavour has changed. Definitely using different ingredients example the rice is mushy, no flavour in any of the food and no love put into cooking. Disappointing considering the cost is on the expensive side

Have been coming here for 26 years, the food quality has plummeted down quite vigorously since the previous owners got close to retirement. Now that their niece is operating, I see the oil is not changed as regularly as it should, the prices are going higher, and definitely in need for better quality chips. It’s sad because the recipes are very delicious, but the quality could be improved. Can’t find anywhere else like it though.

Good price, good quantity, good service. However my only negative is the food had a very old oil taste. Oil that the food is fried in needs to be changed. Will be back, but will check the oil is cleaned first :)

Been our takeaways for the longest but their food is going down. This will be our last time going there after being let down a few times with their food. My son bought home $20 chicken nibbles and chips. There was hardly any chips and the nibbles was meh. They raised their prices. I understand inflation but the hardly any chips been happening for a while now.
