I’ve been a regular at this café for a long time, and it has always been one of my favourites. Among all the cafés and restaurants I’ve visited, they truly have the best service staff — warm, attentive, and genuinely kind every single time. I’m moving to another city soon, and feeling really sad that I won’t be able to come as often. I’ll miss this place and the amazing team here. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love ARA TAI Café! The service is always warm and welcoming, and the whole place has such a relaxing vibe. The view of the marina is amazing — I’m a big fan of seaside cafés, and this is definitely one of the best. It’s also one of the biggest cafés in the East Auckland area, so it feels open and spacious even during busy hours. A perfect spot for coffee, brunch, or just enjoying the beautiful scenery. Highly recommended!

Reasonable food but staff is pretty cold. Great outdoor seating areas though. The place gets some lovely sunshine particularly during summers.

the french toast that I got was super delicious and the presentation was INCREDIBLE. i also want to add that the food came out super quickly and the female waitress that served us was lovely. Unfortunately my cappuccino was super bitter and it came out about 10 minutes after our other food and drinks so not sure if it was rushed when they realised they hadn’t made it and that’s why it was bitter? The milk was done well though. Only other downside was the lady at the counter who took our order took 5 minutes to understand my friend’s request asking for just the mince and the sourdough for his ‘mince on toast’ due to allergies. He kept repeating that he couldn’t have the egg and corn chips etc and just wanted the mince and bread, and she kept giving him weird looks and asking him again if he wanted the tomato, egg, corn chips etc while a line was building up behind us which was a bit stressful. Overall though it was a nice brunch and the location right by the water is lovely.

A Familiar Favorite Faces a Change This cafe has always been a go-to for its friendly atmosphere and quick service. We've enjoyed many meals here over the years, but recent visits have revealed a slight dip in the quality of the food. The presentation and overall appeal seem less appetizing than before. Despite this, the cafe retains its vibrant energy and rapid turnover. It remains a popular spot, bustling with activity. While the food quality has declined somewhat, the overall ambiance and quick service are still strong draws. We'll continue to visit, hoping for a return to the previous culinary heights.

Last few times we have been here, food has been disappointing. Not sure if it’s changed owners. Muffins were very dry, they aren’t able to make simple sandwiches? Quality of food does not match the prices they charge.

A really cool looking cafe with awesome views out to the marina. Plenty of seating which was great. Ordered the seafood chowder and something from the cabinet. The seafood chowder was absolutely terrible. It was very fishy and watery. The croissant from the cabinet took such a long time to be delivered to the table. I asked for gf bread instead of garlic bread and they charged me $5 extra on top of the $19 it cost for the chowder. So disappointing. Didn’t end up eating the chowder.

okay cafe, though quite pricy. Their pork belly sandwich was bland and definitely needed some seasoning, and their matcha latte wasn't that good, but their eggs benedict was quite nice! We ordered around 3+ dishes that had poached eggs and they were cooked perfectly. Nonetheless, too pricey for the quality of food.

Lovely views looking over Half Moon Bay Marina. Plenty of parking around in the weekends. Best to book a table for large groups as it can get quite busy. Has cooked meals, as well as cabinet food. Great coffee and the food came out reasonably fast. Indoor and outdoor seating.
