We had the 2-fish combo and salt brined oysters. Everything was fresh, fresh, fresh. Hoki and squid were great and the battered crabstick was surprisingly great too. Limited seats in store (previous diners left them dirty and it was cleaned up though) so we did a takeout and ate at the benches nearby instead.

The fish was very nice and crispy just abit of a wait around 20 mins and i tried this trevelly raw fish and it was fire with some coconut sauce

Overall experience 9/10 Food 10/10 Chinese lady behind the counter was grumpy that served me! A smile to the customer goes a long way!! Other than that very clean and a lot of seafood options. Definitely be back in the future!!

I was constantly told to check this place out. Village Fishery did not disappoint! Fish of the day and chips (combo) for $6? Fish well cooked coated with a thin fluffy batter. The Chips were crunchy sprinkled with chicken salt. Affordable for everyone, tasty and located in a spacious place with lots of parking and sitting.

This is my new go to fish and chip shop. Fish of the day and hoki both at $3, an affordable add on to any combo (also reasonably priced). The fish batter was light and fresh, not too oily. The chips were nice and crispy. You can add your choice of salt. The burger was also delicious. I opted for the trevally raw fish and it was 10/10. Tons of parking, and ample space to dine in. Would highly recommend this spot.

Like the food in general but very very oily & greasy with oil soaking through the box and paper bag it came in. Oil was everywhere including my $74k brand new truck with leather seats. Was bit bummed. 1st time visit. Fish were smallish and combo seemed bit hit and miss. Not sure if will return but will see on the day (you know how it goes, depends on how you feel). Seasoning was nice but could hardly taste it as I only got a taste of seasoning on the bottom soggy chips. Also very busy but as a business owner that's great, as a customer with food 3 stars out of 5, I'm not sure worth the wait.

A packed fish market/fish n' chips shop is a good sign. Service was quick, get what you pay for, and food was tasty. Considering that I personally can't find a good fish n' chip shop to keep visiting when I feel like it, this one takes the cake for me. Cheers whanau

Yeah that short butchy lady has a attitude problem alright, batter is always too oily and soft like a sponge.Going back to my local HongKong takeaways up the road where the batter is always crispy and traditional.Chips are the same everywhere "Mr Chips" brand.

I was going for the 5 star rating but their fish is far not great. I've had way better Hoki fish. Your fish is not fresh, batter is undercook (Pale and not crisp) and oily also drinking alcohol (steinlager?) while working not a good look for worksafe. I try and definitely won't try again.
