I came to this store looking for Japanese cosmetics, but the experience was unfortunately very disappointing. The moment I walked in, I was met with a very loud and chaotic atmosphere. A group of young female staff were gathered together, chatting and laughing very loudly amongst themselves in Chinese, making it feel more like their personal party than a professional retail environment. It was disruptive and made it difficult to shop peacefully. This feeling was compounded by the fact that the store, despite its Japanese branding, seemed to lack any authentic connection. With an entirely Chinese-speaking staff, the experience felt quite disconnected from what one would expect. What solidified my poor impression was the checkout process. After I paid, the young male cashier, instead of handing me my product, slid it across the counter towards me with a flick of his finger. I'm not sure if he was trying to be cool, but I found the gesture to be incredibly dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, due to the unprofessional atmosphere and disrespectful service, I would not recommend this store and will not be returning.

This is a smaller Japan Mart mainly selling cosmetics, snacks and drinks. There is a bakery inside the building as well.

This rating isn’t for the shop or the goods they sell. It’s for the service. We went on a Tuesday night, arrived at 7:30pm and the door is already locked. The salesperson saw us and opened the door to tell us she plans to close in 5 minutes. I have no issues with them wanting to close earlier if there are no customers. But they need to update their signages and their operation hours on google.

Cool Japanese shop. I'm a fan of cup noodles, and I was told they have a particular selection that other asain supermarkets don't have. There are so many new variants to me that I stocked up for the week. But be prepared to pay a bit more for noodles that are of higher quality than your standard supermarket brands. Other items for bathroom and household products are also available, along with some anime figures as well, which I didn't expect. If the noodle variants I brought are great, then I'll be coming here more often

Good selection of products. But it is quite pricy. I guess that’s the price you get from most of the Japanese product store in NZ. Ps. I saw a complaint comment about production date and expiry date - for those who don’t know, it’s common sense that many Asian countries use production date instead of expiry date and you need to check production date + validity period to work out the expiry date yourself.

Don't trust their products. Bought popcorn and taste was off, had a look and date stamp says 2021.10.03. Staff said it is not expiry date and that is "made" date then pointed on a Japanese writing saying that is expiry date. Really??? Don't believe this b.s.!!! Have reported to City Council to check their products.

Been there a few times on a Sunday. The service is God awful. Staff were more interested in talking smack with each other than serving customers. Stood at the front waiting to be served for a good few minutes waiting for them to finish chatting. Once done purchasing, the gave me the bags with the handles folded into the bag. Straight disrespect! In addition to this, there were boxes left in front of the aisles making it difficult to walk through, and look for items. Didn’t look like anyone was there to work.
