Beautiful spot with lots of Christmas decorations, a big tree with fake snow outside, a large snowman and little trees inside, snow-frosted windows and cozy booth nooks. Staff were amazing, fast, attentive, very helpful and friendly. Came at 4.05pm on a Tuesday, so burgers and most of the bar bites, house wines, beers, and spirits were all $10. The burgers and fries and mac and cheese bites were so good that my dining companion wanted to know if the chef was single.

My photo doesn’t do it justice. The Fries were HEAVENLY. The service was immaculate. Every 10 mins someone would come up and check if we were doing well. The atmosphere is lively. A bit loud sometimes, however, they have some wonderful little booths that are Christmas themed at the moment. The decor right now is so cute. We will be coming back!

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and we were really impressed. We ordered the Butter Chickpea pizza, which totally took us by surprise – it was really good and such an interesting combination for a pizza. My pappardelle was delicious too, with prawns that were very fresh and full of flavour. The portions are quite generous. We also had focaccia as a starter, which was a good size to share. To be honest, two mains are probably enough for two people even without the focaccia. Customer service was great as well – friendly and attentive without being pushy. Overall, we were very happy with our meal and will definitely come again for sure.

Came here tonight (Tuesday) for dinner because we have loved it in the past. We got the “crispy chicken burger” and the “meat lovers pizza” but unfortunately both fell short (the pizza more than the burger) and we were left disappointed. The chicken burgers description of “crispy chicken” is not accurate and should have just been called grilled chicken burger and the pizza was doughy, flat, undercooked and overall not great. The pizza here is usually light, fluffy, crispy and usually our favourite dish but like I say, tonight was dissatisfying. Hoping this was just a 1 time occurrence but nervous to try again.

We found a new favourite! We reserved a table early as we were bringing our puppy Biscuit. The Broken Lantern exceeded our expectations! I loved where we were seated, how attentive everyone is, and that we were informed about the deals for happy hour. My favourite is their pork bites, which was so yummy! We had their mac n cheese bites, fried chicken and spring roll. It was so filling! The photos don’t do it justice. But the star was the freshly made apple crumble - worth the wait. We will most definitely be back!

Lovely place, dim lighting, and amazing drinks. Just sad that they removed the “Lost in Translation” drink from their menu as it was one tasting extraordinary! Strongly recommend visiting.

The pizzas were great and the deserts were fantastic. It’s definitely not your usual bar food. A good wine list and beer selection and some pretty decent cocktails. A really great addition to Ponsonby Road

The Broken Lantern truly exceeded all of our expectations! The lounge-style atmosphere of this restaurant and bar creates a relaxed and comfortable vibe that is perfect for a night out. Their liquor collection is extensive with an impressive range of gin, rum, and top-shelf whiskies. The cocktails were exceptional, and the bartender even crafted a delicious off-menu drink for me. But the real star of the show was the food. The menu offers a wide variety of shareable appetizers and main dishes, all of which were fantastic. I highly recommend trying the Ceviche, Steak, and Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The portion sizes were generous, and the potatoes that accompanied the steak were simply divine! To top it off, the service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about their impressive liquor selection. Overall, my partner and I had an amazing experience and would definitely go back again!

Such a nice bar, put a lot of efforts on Christmas decoration and have lot so different cocktails. If you love cocktails, this is the bar that you can’t miss.

Quiet afternoon visiting Ponsonby. Friendly staff, old school lounge atmosphere, great music. Well made old fashioned with Makers Mark 46. The brussel sprouts were excellent, great presentation, wonderful fusion of flavor. Caramelized brussel sprouts, curry cream sauce and fried leeks. The right amount of flavor and spice.... Who thought of this?! The pork belly by itself was not prepared properly. Needs more flavor and the outer layer should be a bit crispy. But together with the browned onion cream and rodkal its a tasty dish. Thanks for a nice afternoon while visiting Auckland!
