   I visited Standing Room Espresso in Birkenhead with my mum for a coffee and muffin treat after a stressful morning. The coffee was genuinely lovely, and the muffins were pretty good too. We were hoping for a relaxing break together, but unfortunately the service made the experience more stressful than it needed to be. We spent over $30 for two coffees and two muffins, which we were happy to do for a nice treat. However, the staff didn’t mention at the time of ordering that the café was closing in just ten minutes. While it’s true we could have checked ourselves, it would have been considerate to let us know before we paid. Just a few minutes after we sat down, we were told they were closing, which made us feel rushed and like we were in the way. Also, while we were standing at the till waiting to order, one of the staff members repeatedly said “excuse me” quite bluntly to get through the space. We understand the area is small, but a more polite and friendly tone would have made a big difference to the atmosphere. Instead, it just added to the tension and left us feeling uncomfortable. Overall, the drinks and food were great, but the lack of warmth and clear communication from staff really took away from what we hoped would be a quiet and enjoyable visit.

   It’s been 5 years since I was last here (only had coffee) and oh boy has it expanded since! Tastefully decorated cafe with a mixed sized seating arrangement - low to high, intimate to large dining tables and chairs to match. Well appointed menu catering to all dietary requirements. I had a small flat white, salmon eggs Benedict and a ginger loaf. The meal was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. The sauce had a sharp tart taste just right for the salmon and generous in portion. The ginger loaf was strong in flavour which I enjoyed! Totally worth stopping in here. I live locally and tend to stay on the other side of the Birkenhead village for eating. Highly recommend this gem of a cafe. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

   Just call out the names on the menu. i love their idea of using names on the menu. it’s so much easier, instead of a mouthful of long dishes name. Today it’s the 4th time i came here in 2 months time frame, every time we’re so satisfied with the food, taste, portions. Consistent with the taste especially. I ordered 4 different dishes each time, none of them were disappointing, they deserves my 5 stars rating for sure. Today its time for me to put in my genuine reviews on this place. you might just bump into me sitting by the bird’s wall paper table, it’s my favourite spot ^^ look, i got the menu name on the photo, so u know what i ate ^^ PS: No, i didn’t ate all those in one day ^^ I'm still going thru the menu, and each time i tried something new, and added my food photos in here, soon, i hope you’ll see a collection of the food i tried in here ^^

   We only had coffee but the flat white was really good. They have 4 different sizes and all have 2 shots of coffee. Choose your size based on yojr molk levels. We had regular size and it was to my liking
