Cafe Botannix Albany has nice setting, good coffee and decent food, and the cabinet items look lovely. However, there is one issue that really needs attention: the cabinet food has no price tags. With around 15 items on display, customers are forced to ask the price of each one — and the prices are surprisingly high. An almond croissant is $9.60 and cakes sit around $16, which is well above the average for cafés in the area. What makes this more disappointing is that this is not a new concern. We spoke to staff and management about this on our last visit (couple of weeks ago) and asked them to pass the feedback to the owner. On today’s visit, almost nothing had changed. We could see couple of price tags but the rest was not priced again. We raised our consern one more time, hoping it would finally be taken seriously. At this point, it feels less like an oversight and more like a deliberate lack of transparency. Hiding prices — especially when they are this high — comes across as a bit cheeky and dishonest. Customers have every right to know what they’re paying for — especially now, when the cost of living is affecting so many people, including young people, pensioners, and anyone watching their budget. Botanix could be a great café, but refusing to show cabinet prices sends the wrong message. Transparency shouldn’t have to be requested twice.

A last minute decision to have a lazy Sunday morning breakfast left us spoilt for choice. Do we go north or south? Let's go north! So onto First Table to find somewhere which led us to Cafe Botannix in Albany. It was a really chilly 4 degrees outside when we set off and not much warmer when we arrived. Anyway, we scan the menu and my husband has his usual eggs Benedict and me? Well, if corn fritters are on the menu, I'm in! we find a table next to the fireplace although being a covered outdoor area, we weren't feeling the heat. Our drinks arrived quickly, a flat white for hubby and an English breakfast tea for me which was lukewarm. I really needed a HOT drink given the chilly temperature. Then our meals. They were tasty enough, I just was hoping for nice plump fritters. Mine looked more like sweetcorn crepes, but as I said, they were tasty with a nice smeer of sour cream on the side, a poached and a generous amount of smashed avo. I just think it would be great if the plates and especially tea pot could be hested prior to serving when the weather is cold. Not a bad brekkie, but it wasn't worth the drive from Manurewa.

#Cafe in the garden# Nice place with various green plants and beautiful flowers. We tried the cheesecake and chicken salad, reasonable prices and generous portions.

It’s a busy spot but sitting in the lush greenhouse is really lovely. Pre booked tables are allowed, great for lots special events and large parties. There’s always a line but the staff is very quick at taking orders. We loved the GF orange cake. The matcha and turmeric latte taste authentic and not overtly sweet. We forgot to order decaf and staff kindly took back our order and exchanged for a decaf long black. For a busy spot, things do get missed or take a while, just be patient or kindly ask the staff. Smell the roses! What’s the rush?

Situated in a garden centre, so there's lots to look at in the nursery and the shop. Good food. Popular for brunch. Pleasant waitress. We visit regularly, especially now the small shopping centre and Countdown are nearly completed. Visited today with a walking group and very helpful young man, staff member helped to move tables together for us. Always helpful staff.

Soooo much potential. Coffee is amazing, The setting is beautiful, food cabinet looks good but unfortunately a bit disappointed on the quality of the food (stale scones, then corrected by a fresh scone that was a bit raw inside). The kids play area is literally a magnet for parents with time to kill and money to spend, but unfortunately it's not clean and hasn't been maintained well. If you guys spent a small amount of money on upgrading it, you'd see the return ten fold in customers as there is no where under cover for kids around here...PLEASE invest, you guys have so much potential

Great breakfasts. Good thing was the eggs were soft. Waitresses need to be trained though. Delivered our coffee but walked away without clearing last guests plates and cups. Needed to call her back. Didn't know which coffees she was delivering either. So we had to decide what the coffee was ourselves. Delivered a cappuccino and thought it was a hot chocolate.

Absolutely amazing! Great service. It was busy but we were served very quickly. The food was gorgeous and delicious and we had a cute seat outside with beautiful flowers. Would recommend the sticky date french toast, we liked it so much we ordered it twice.
