We had a really nice stay here. It was about a 14 minute drive from the airport/rental car areas. 30-45 minutes from downtown. The room had a couple carpet stains but everything else was clean and nice. The A/C is super loud but cooled the room well. Would recommend for the price.

I didn’t end up staying at this property as I accidentally booked through Booking.com. I contacted the property within 20 minutes to cancel and asked if they could make an exception since they were holding half the payment. Unfortunately, when I spoke with the manager, she was very aggressive on the phone, raising her voice and not listening to my concerns. She blamed Booking.com for not allowing the refund, but when I pointed out that wasn’t accurate, she became even more irritated. I found this unprofessional and disappointing. For a $150, it seems unreasonable that no flexibility or understanding was offered. They must be really desperate for money I guess. I did end up needing the place but I didn’t wish to stay after the manger called me stupid for saying the truth and blatantly lying about it being a booking.com decision at least be honest.

For 135 a night, this place was very nice. Room was clean and spacious for what we needed, the beds were comfortable. We had a good rest before our early morning flight, only a short drive to the airport from here. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic accommodation for a short and long stay. We booked the day of our arrival to New Zealand from Australia following a bereavement. They were very accommodating and allowed us a slightly earlier check in without paying extra. The room was very clean and room service come to clean the room the next day. We stayed in here for 2 nights. The staff were very approachable and clearly explained the rules during our stay. Will definitely be booking in when we are back in New Zealand and recommend it to our friends and family. Very affordable.

I don’t like to be one to just be negative and I don’t want to make it sound like I’m attacking this hotel. However, the fact that it is considered a 3-star hotel is ridiculous. I dont know how it has such good reviews being rated as a 3-star hotel. I think it would be pushing it to even call it a 2-star hotel. If you are just looking for somewhere cheap to stay near the airport, still keep looking there are other and better options out there. We would have checked out and went somewhere else within 10 min of arriving, but just spent over 2 hours in Auckland traffic and just wanted to sleep. Which we didn’t do because the bed was totally uncomfortable. The area is not nice; we could tell that visually and were told specifically not to leave anything in the car. There is a very strong smell from the restaurant that’s attached. The room itself was tiny and not clean. The shower head was attached with zip ties. They don’t even have proper room keys, the room number is just written on a white card with permanent marker. Maybe at one point this used to be a nice place to stay, but right now it isn’t so just keep looking for somewhere else to stay.

The location is within walking distance to Great South Road for foodies, bank, shopping centre. The hostess was very welcoming and interested when I lost my passport

For the location it's in, it's a little gem, a diamond in the rough. Modern decor, very clean, smells clean, looks clean. Cleaning services are daily, if you opt to leave your notice on the door. I opted for single bed in studio size, which had sky tv in room (good size tv, no lagging or interruption) single bed (warm fresh linen) bathroom is modern, shower had two options, hand held or fixed. Big ceramic basin and mirror. Kitchenette had the basic things you need to warm meals, and make tea/coffee. Mini fridge with milk. There was a air con which I used to warm the room as it got a bit chilli due to weather. Nice thick drapery, with curtain net drapes for extra privacy if you opted to open the drapes. Your car is secure, big car park, a lot going on as it's in the middle of papatoetoe, but they have 24 hour security, and I only need to look out the window to see my car. Quiet rooms, looked like a lot of workers, and business people stay here for a stop over, it's cheap and I didn't need a deposit, It was easy to book, and I ended up extending my stay by booking again online at 2am. No issues, it's a very lovely atmosphere. I was hoping to find somewhere where there was no 'emergency housing tennants' and this was perfect. Lovely environment, helpful staff, will definitely book here again if I need another stop over. Just across the road is the Friday night markets as well, bit of a bonus. Enjoyed my stay immensely. Well done to the staff! Thanks for your lovely smiles.

I had the toughest time finding this hotel at night because there were no signs that can be seen from the main street and the general area was poorly lit. If you arrive at night, pull into the lot with Big Mart Supermarket and head towards the container-like building adjacent to there. I would say Kolmar Inn was one of the worst hotels that I've stayed in while visiting New Zealand. The room was clean but was claustrophobically small, similar to what you'd find on a college campus. The heater did not function correctly. Even though the heater was set at 30° C, it was only blowing warm air that was immediately nullified by the cold air coming through the windows. The amenities were lacking and they used one dedicated key card with hard written number on it for each room. The neighborhood was sketchy and there were security guards stationed at the front at most of the businesses nearby. I made sure to take everything out of my car because there were broken glass all over the parking lot. The only reason to stay here is for its proximity to the Auckland airport and that's it. Otherwise, I'd steer far away from this place as possible.

Great stay and close to airport. Staff were polite, easy check in. Room was modern and very clean. Bed was soft and comfortable. Pillows and linen were top notch and spotless. Location was handy to a nearby mall with supermarket and kmart and several nearby restaurants all within walking distance. All i would say is more signage out the front although google helped us find it easy enough. Highly recommmend and will be staying there again in the near future.

Stay here last night. Great locating next to bars and shops. Staff are polite and friendly Rooms are comfy and clean. The only thing I feel they should add is a dishcloth so you can refuse plates etc and a toaster
