This place is tops. Beautiful setting, birds eating & singing outside - including tuis. Spotless & very tasteful decor. A very restful & private place. They've thought of everything, incl good tourist info. Very generous provisions. A walking track behind. It's close to town & a straight drive to the beach. Thoroughly recommend this 'home away from home.
This was our second stay at Sunny Glen and would definitely come back again. The owners are friendly and helpful and the place has very practical amenities. Good for those who want to cook for themselves for basic meals, and handy to shops for supplies. A beautiful location by the river which is great for walks. Near to the train station should you wish to travel to the city
Sunny Glen Cottage Ebeth and Ken are the most welcoming, thoughtful, and generous hosts we ever had. Ebeth put so much thought into planning and designing the interior of this guest house, you can see and feel the love she has for details. They said they wanted to create an accommodation they would want for themselves, and this really shows. Everything in the guest house is elegant and cozy at the same time. Furniture and equipment is new and of high standard. There is a laundry machine and drier, outside bbq, induction plate, grill, nespresso machine, refrigerator with ice dispenser, even good sharpened chef knifes. The breakfast ingredients are of the highest quality, for instance we had manuka honey and organic puhoi valley milk, fresh orange juice, a wide range of jams. Ken showed us how to use the BBQ, and he invited us for a drink on Christmas Day. We met Ken and Ebeth's family and friends, all of whom were very welcoming and we had great conversations. Ebeth and Ken made us feel not like guests, but like friends. Hope we meet them again in the future to continue our discussions!
A wonderful place. Beautifully appointed, comfortable, clean, excellent facilities, delicious breakfast, great location, and wonderful hosts. We would return to this peaceful haven at the drop of a hat.
