Amazing place to be...clean, fresh, sufficiently stocked and very thoughtfully set up. Loved this place for our weekend family getaway. We had our own private heated pool and a cute fireplace in the deck area as well.
Black Fern was a gorgeous place to stay. The home itself is very spacious with each bedroom having it's own ensuite and all the amenity you need. It's ideal for big families as each wing is quite private, while the living area is centred around entertaining. The outdoor pool area is even more impressive – great for hosting barbecues and year-round swimming with the heated pool. Black Fern hosted the ladies in our wedding party and it provided the perfect backdrop for our photos.

This is a very special place to make memories with your loved ones!❤ Absolutely stunning views! Our family totally soaked up the atmosphere Black Fern Matakana has to offer, and we were even a bit sad to leave. Beautiful beautiful home, with all the modern conveniences, an outdoor entertainment area to die for along with the outside fireplace made the cool evening swim in the pool well worth it. I cannot say enough about this piece of paradise in the mountain.
We have stayed at this lodge twice and cannot fault it for location, amenities , stunning views and atmosphere. A genuine home away from home - a great value package.
