I have been seeing Dr John McCartie for more than 20 years, and have always found him and the clinic to be very good. IWould recommend.

I’ve visited multiple times and have consistently felt dismissed and looked down upon by one particular doctor. She prescribed me medication without properly explaining that it was only meant to be taken for three months, followed by a gradual weaning-off period. I ended up taking it for nine months—completely unaware of the risks—because she never provided that crucial information. It wasn’t until I did my own research that I discovered the proper usage. To make matters worse, during a follow-up appointment, she joked about how I looked “very angry and sulky” the last time I came in. That “very unhappy and sulky looking face” was because I was understandably upset after realising I’d been taking medication incorrectly for months due to her lack of communication. I found the comment incredibly unprofessional and insensitive. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. The receptionists are fairly nice.

Horrible Experience – Do Not Come Here! I had a terrible experience at this clinic and would not recommend it to anyone. A few days ago, I went in because I had rashes on my face, which I suspected were due to sunburn. I asked for a cream to help with the rash, and instead of offering a professional solution, the staff member (VICTOR JI )actually searched for a cream on Google! Why would I pay $75 for someone to Google something I could easily do myself? To make matters worse, when I asked about the potential side effects of the prescribed cream, which contained steroids, the staff member was incredibly vague. He said, “The side effects are all quite similar, nothing major,” but didn’t actually provide any clear or helpful information. I decided to do some research online myself and found that using steroid creams on the face can actually be quite dangerous, with potential side effects like thinning skin, increased risk of infections, and other complications. This is information I expected the professional to share with me, not something I had to look up on my own. This was a total waste of time and money. I expected professional care and advice, but instead, I received none of that. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

Dr Sheelagh James saved my husband's life by requesting tests early on when symptoms were still undetectable. Dr John McCartie is my doctor and he is kind and thorough. I've also seen Dr Glenn Neo and Dr Victor Ji and they are both fabulous. Everyone really cares. The patient portal works well and wait times are usually not too bad either.

I used to bring my kids here years ago and saw Dr Phillipa Murray. She was so rude and mean to us. I was struggling to pay the exorbitant bill, was going through domestic violence at the time and she marched me out of her office to the reception and demanded payment in front of the waiting room full of people. When I tried to get another appointment a few weeks later for one of my kids with a different doctor, Dr Murray got on the phone and refused the appointment because I hadn't been able to pay. One appointment with them racked up 70+ dollars, I only owed for about two or 3 because the kids had been really sick, was trying to pay the bill off, but nope, not good enough for her. She told me to get WINZ to pay it first and not come back till they did. She was so judgemental towards me it wasn't funny. I still have trouble going to the doctors today because of her and now I'm really sick. This is a real review, I'm staying anonymous for my safety.

This is a popular, busy, well run practice. We have a 'favourite' Dr that we try to see if we can but also appreciate the fact that when urgency has required us to book a consult with other members of the AFMC team, we have consistently enjoyed a high quality of care. Since enrolling here, we have moved to a suburb much further away, making it somewhat inconvenient to travel here when face-to-face appointments are required, but will continue to do so as we have found the team here to be consistent at providing excellent service over a span of several years. I'd rather deal with an hour in traffic than play roulette with trying to find equally goood service with a more-local practice. Thanks AFMC team.

Avoid this practice. They don’t care about their patients at all and are too money focused - and seeing all the other previous reviews, there is a theme here. They billed a missed appointment when I had a legitimate reason and responded through email of the reasons. What is the point of writing ‘If there has been an error please give us a call’ when the receptionists don't even have an answer to that and they don't even respond back to the emails. They only send through a reminder invoices which is a joke. As a health care provider AFMC should really reconsider their business approach. Definitely will be looking elsewhere and telling friends and people looking for a new doctors to not waste their time here

I used to be a patient here and then changed GPs due to a few reasons. The Pros: Lovely reception team, well organized and helpful. Waiting rooms and patient rooms are always tidy. The Cons: Dr Tony Chiu was my original Dr who I signed up with, he was lovely and very easy to deal with, I would've happily stayed if he was still there. My new Dr Rebecca refused to give me repeat prescriptions. This meant that I had to make a brand new booking every time at $50 (or whatever the rate was) just to get the same prescription that I've had for years. To put this in perspective, my now Dr (at a different clinic) does not waste my time/money on this and will review it every 6 monthly or annually. It was weird because I felt that Dr R did not trust me which is a little awkward, despite me being on this for a very long time. I understand that not all people get along well in this world, but when you a providing a health service, this needs to be overlooked. Someone below mentioned that this clinic is very money orientated. I completely agree. I understand that this is a commercial world, but there is a balance between doing the right thing vs taking advantage of a situation. *edit: I meant Dr Tony Chiu not Howard. He was my original Dr who was great!
