Always a great cafe, with excellent coffee, but even better on their Custard Square Saturdays. It's worth planning your Saturday routine to include it for coffee and a custard square thats - big enough to share. with two.

Hive impresses with its variety of dining areas: cozy indoor seating downstairs, a quieter upstairs section, and a spacious courtyard out back perfect for soaking in the fresh air. The relaxed and quiet atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for unwinding, catching up with friends, or even working remotely with its extensive WiFi and ample power outlets. The menu and cabinet selections are thoughtfully curated, featuring options like freshly baked almond croissants, ham off the bone baguettes, and the beloved Spanish Breakfast that has been a staple since the café’s inception. Beverages include coffee brewed with locally roasted Karamu beans and seasonal kombucha for something refreshing. The staff are attentive and efficient, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Parking is stress-free, thanks to the absence of parking meters—an unexpected bonus in today’s world. Vegetarian and GF options. Good service. They served a lunch party of 8 all their meals within a short space of time, which should be standard but is unfortunately rare these days.
Cafe decor is lovely but spoilt by every table (inside and out) having dirty dishes on them….not a great dining experience having to clear table before you can sit down. Very small toasted sandwich is overpriced and not worth $12.
Really great job. The food was lovely, I had the brioche bun chicken burger, it was delicious. Others were delighted with their salmon eggs Benedict on potato rosti. The coffee was very good, they took the time to make me a special Cortado (wish it was on the menu, hint hint). Lovely staff doing great.
