City Lodge Accommodation is a budget-friendly spot in a fantastic location--just one block from Queen Street's shops and restaurants and about a 10-minute walk to the Sky Tower and the CBD. The biggest drawback is that there's no air conditioning. We stayed in summer, and the room was extremely hot, even at night. The ceiling fan, tower fan, and limited window airflow weren't enough to cool it down so we didn't sleep well. If you stay here, leave the fan on full blast while you're out for the day; otherwise the room heats up like a sauna. The room was basic but fine: a comfortable bed, a small TV with local channels, and only one hand-wash dispenser--no shampoo or body wash provided. The Wi-Fi system is unusual. The lobby staff has to print you a ticket with a unique username and password. Even after connecting, the network didn't reconnect automatically so I had to return to the lobby for a newly printed login each time. One big plus is the basement lounge, which has a fully equipped shared kitchen (gas stoves, pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc.), along with a pool table, ping-pong table, and plenty of seating. The staff throughout the property were friendly and welcoming. Overall, the staff, price, and location are excellent, but the lack of air conditioning and the inconvenient Wi-Fi were dealbreakers for us. I wouldn't stay here again in the summer.

What you see is not what you get. On arrival staff demanded our drivers licences for ID purposes which they scanned and saved to their computor We asked for it back but they could not tell it was deleted. Their website stated there was a fee on arrival for the key which would be refunded on checkout. On arrival we were told that it would be 5-7 days before we received the refund. My wife and I requested two keys but were told that they only issue one per room. Their website shows that the double bed could be accessed from both side not the case. The bed was hard against the wall on one side TV was in a strange place and not even level Front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. I would not recommend this place to anyone

Made a booking for a major event a year in advance and a few weeks before we were due to stay thet emailed us saying they are canceling the booking. When we looked ok Expedia after they canceled they showed that they have rooms available but substantially more expensive. When we called to ask them about it the person spoke little to no English and would not tell us when the manager would be available. Ended up spending a lot more for a different accommodation.

Thin walls, hard to catch a lick of sleep. Reception is super loud and doesn't know what headphones are when they're watching TikTok. Room smelt strongly of chemicals. Don't stay here.

While the location isn't the worst, the rooms and service definitely are. Won't stay again, don't recommend. The room was cold and damp, and not serviced properly once during our stay. Unmade beds, dirty cups and not a clean towel in sight was what awited us when we returned in the evenings. After complaining the second time it happened, it only continued to get worse. There is absolutely no soundproofing at all and the constant noise made sleep almost impossible. The cashier at Vincent Mini Mart across the road, was more friendly than the staff at City Lodge. There is also only a 6 spot parking lot, so you are more than likely going to have to park else where and walk to and from your car. It's not a far distance but still an inconvenience especially with luggage. The communal areas are not too bad, and we did have some interesting conversations, but that doesn't make up for the fact that the rest of the stay was entirely horrific and we couldn't wait to leave!!

Booked a room here through Agoda - very good rate, and excellent location. A few things to take note of though - amenities listed on other sites, like hairdryers and document safes are NOT available at location, and room doors only have the doorknob lock on them, no additional chain lock. Was quite surprised when they took a bond from me from checking in, meaning there's a history of guests damaging the rooms. Received it back in full without incident upon check out, but something to be aware of. Found that the best food to eat around there is either along Queen street, about 10-15 minutes walk away, or near Intercity Bus Terminal, about 10-12 minutes walk away. Wifi had a bad habit of dropping out, but I was probably sharing with dozens of other guests, so to be expected. Clean rooms, relative quiet, but nothing fancy. I'd stay there again if I was going through.

Excellent location, parking mustn't be a given as it was unavailable when we arrived and we had to find parking elsewhere. Rooms are big enough for staying a night to a week but any longer than that you might be over it as the bed is quite close to the door, so noise from the hallway could be an issue. In saying that though, it is fairly priced. Also there is the communal kitchen you can access if you need.

Been in Auckland for work 5 months now and moved around a bit.. This would be the most comfortable and professional budget accommodation ice had in Akld. Reception have been friendly and helpful. Good clean kitchen facilities and a great social area....free pool, ping-pong, board games etc. Recommend!
