Had some concern from reading reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Chip scoop was plenty for 1 person, I think reasonable for the price. They were crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside, and light on salt. Singapore noodles were delicious, good amount of bbq pork and shrimps, not too oily. Would order again!

Crumbed fish & 1/2 scoop of chips, my standard order. This photo is a Fish burger, 1/2 scoop chips & a Spring roll. Very tasty food. Friendly, family run business, lovely service. Great neighbourhood chippy.

IG: 2fish1chip Was out in Ngaio this week so popped in to the cosy little store that is Tans Takeaways for some hot goods on a cold night! Order: Fish & Chips and a Corn Fritter Cost: $14.40 Fish was a nice Warehou fillet which in this case was tasty and fresh! No ill signs of an aged fillet coated in a golden crunch batter which was also light on its oiliness and soulful to the ears. Corn Fritter - it was great to see another chippy using the herbed up potato filling instead of straight up batter mix to complement the kernels. Probably a little lean on the corn side but this fritter was thicc!!! Chips were your stand frozen chips, not cooked to the Chinese Chippy Standard, but good enough to enjoy. A solid joint tucked away in the valley and a good spot to grab some eats from! Cheers Tans Takeaway’s!

Used to be amazing got 2 scoops isn’t nearly as big as used to be probably fits 2 people max, definitely one of the smallest scoops I’ve had in Wellington

Great sweet and sour pork! Always on time and polite service. I drive 15 minutes as their chinese food is better than anything local.

Great service and tasty fish and chips, but they've lately been really, really stingy with the serving size for a single scoop.

Tried to place telephone order, good luck with that … no telephone manner at all. Counter service is shocking, unless you like being shouted at. Friendly rapport building with clients is really important. This is a greasy spoon. Poor quality and poor value.

We bought fish & chips for dinner. Got 1 & 1/2 scoops of chips for two of us and it was barely enough for one person. The food is really yummy but portion sizes are small. Bit of a let down.

Great value and tasty fish & chips + Chinese. Their chicken fried rice is such a favorite with our kids that no other can compare. On really busy days (notably Friday or Saturday) weve noticed the quality can be a little lower.
