⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved our stay at Gamma Hotel! We had such a great stay at Gamma Hotel. From check-in to check-out, the staff were super friendly and made everything easy and stress-free. You instantly feel welcomed. The room was clean, modern, and really comfortable the bed was amazing and everything felt fresh and well looked after. It had everything we needed and was a perfect place to relax after a long day. Great location, great vibes, and overall just a really enjoyable stay. Would 100% recommend and would happily stay here again!

PLEASE AVOID!! The room I booked had a disgusting foul SMELL of URINE so I called reception immediately as it was definitely not in a livable condition, they did accommodate and quickly moved my wife and I to a new room, the room they moved us to had a very bad smell also but not as bad (just bearable). Overall the cleanliness is very bad, MOULD all throughout the bathroom and around the window, room service ONLY offers towel change and don't even bother mopping the puddles left from the shower or make the bed. The walls are thin and very NOISY, could hear doors closing and guests talking in the corridor (not next to us either). BEWARE THERE IS NO ELEVATOR!!

We stayed at Gamma Hotel and unfortunately the experience was mixed, leaning towards disappointing. The pillowcases had visible stains, so we did not use them at all and had to cover the bed and pillows with our own sheets. At night, especially after 11 pm, there was a lot of noise from other rooms. People were singing loudly, watching TV at high volume, and repeatedly slamming doors. It felt like there was no clear hotel policy or supervision to control noise levels, which made it difficult to rest. The room itself could have been designed much more nicely β€” it felt very plain and cold, almost like a prison cell rather than a hotel room. Positive point: location and parking. The hotel is in a very convenient area with excellent access to Queen Street and the city centre.

The room had a strong, unpleasant smell, and when we tried turning on the air conditioning for some fresh air, it released an even worse moldy odor, so we had to switch it off immediately. The room’s triangle-shaped layout also meant the bed wasn’t flush against any wall, leaving a large gap behind the headboard where our pillows kept falling throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep comfortably. Although the location was excellent, just a short walk to Spark Arena, the overall experience was so unpleasant that, despite paying for two nights, we chose to leave early and only stayed for the first night. The parking area was also very cramped and made maneuvering the car quite difficult.

Convenient location, but be ready for the hill! Stayed at Gamma Hotel during marathon prepβ€”room was spacious and clean, with handy extras like a fridge, microwave, and kettle. Great value for central Auckland. The steep slope leading to the entrance was a workout in itself, especially with luggage. Staff were polite, and Wi-Fi worked well. Good for short stays if you're fit or traveling light.

Booking was not properly confirmed and this messed up our plans, after an hour of back and forth this was confirmed. This hotel looks nice in the reception but the rooms tell a different story. The beds are hard, not good if you have medical conditions. There were 3 windows in the room with on a blind on one of them, lights coming in the windows and under the door all night. There was not towels in our room, the phone did not work so I had to go down and request them, there are lots of stairs with no lift and it is not wheel chair friendly at all! There were people outside our room that were arguing and pushing each other around, terrible. I could not wait until I could leave when the sun came up as I did not sleep at all. The only plus side was the walking distance from where we needed to go later that night. I would never stay here again.

For its price range this was great accomodation. Was glad we’d been forewarned by past reviews that the room having a toaster and microwave didn’t mean any cutlery or crockery provided - we packed plastic picnic set and hope the owners consider including these in future for guests convenience. Website said there was an outside space and communal kitchen but no info on where to find these so didn’t access. Clean but spartan room, had its own heat pump, really would benefit from having some hooks to hang raincoats on, there was nowhere in the room to do it. Also no safety evacuation anywhere to be seen which was a worry, and it could have used a dusting on higher surfaces. Staff were friendly and responsive to small issues needing immediate resolving. We travelled with a 2 year old and room met our needs as a travelling family wanting a place for naps and sleeping while otherwise out for the day.

Great budget hotel in the city. I would definitely be back. Pros: Good price for inner city, close to spark arena, shopping and public transport. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room, great water pressure, and decent coffee/ tea making facilities. Could not hear people in the next room unless they left their room. Cons: Although the location is great, you have to walk up a short but steep hill to get there. The hotel lobby could really do with some decor. A couple of plants and pictures would go a long way. Street noise at night (sirens, drunk people, etc) But it's a inner city location, so understandable.

Terrible rooms. Our first room had a broken bed, so we asked to be moved. The second room also had a broken bed. They wouldn't let us cancel so we had to stay. There are people on ankle bracelets living there. Felt quite unsafe. Room was cold and smelled like urine. The walls are paper thin and we had to hear the neighbours snoring and sneezing all night. Great location, pretty okay service (they were helpful with trying to accommodate us), but truly terrible rooms. Won't stay here again .

Avoid this hotel if you want your NZ experience to be a little more positive, irrespective of the low price. You can hear everything in this hotel - all night I was awoken by doors slamming from nearby rooms as it jolted the whole corridor wall, in addition to other loud guests due to the very thin walls. This hotel looks, feels and smells like a hostel. Rooms do not have any bedside lamps, nor any shelf in the bathroom to place your toiletries (only possible place would be atop the toilet cistern!) and the basin is a tiny hand wash sink that doesn’t drain properly. There is no internal lock/latch on the doors like most hotels. The hotel website states car parking available but fails to mention the requirement to 'prebook' the very limited spaces. Therefore no spot was available for my stay for one of the nights, forcing me to use a nearby Wilson’s at $32 a night.
