   I’m writing this review to share a genuine and disappointing experience with Bargain King, Avondale, in the hope that the management takes this issue seriously and reviews how their hire items are handled. Last weekend my wife hired a decorative cake table from this shop for our baby’s baptism celebration. When we arrived home and carefully started unloading the items from the car, one section of the table fell apart by itself — it didn’t fall on the ground or get hit by anything. It simply came loose as we lifted it. We were both shocked because it came apart so easily, and when I checked, I saw a small piece of thin white plastic that had been used to attach or patch the two pieces together. It was clear this table had already been repaired or glued before being hired out. Because we didn’t want to ruin our celebration, we didn’t complain or make a big deal at the time. We thought maybe that was just how the design looked, and we even assumed the store already knew about the repair. But when I returned the item on Monday, instead of showing any professionalism or apology, the lady at the counter acted surprised and immediately started talking about how much the table cost when it was new. I asked if she was the same person who gave it to my wife, but she called another person and started discussing how much I should pay as if we had broken it. At first, she said I had to pay $100 because it was “old and used.” I explained politely that we did not damage it — it was already like that when we received it. I even said honestly, “It’s not about the money, it’s about honesty,” but she used that honesty against me and raised the price to $150. At that point, I showed her the actual table right in front of her, pointing out the white inner plastic that had been used to glue or hold the two parts together. I explained clearly that if the item had never been broken before, that thin plastic would not even exist there. She tried to tell me it was the “original plastic” that covers the table, but as anyone can see, that is simply not true. The material is clearly separate, uneven, and added on top — not part of the original surface. You can even see in the photos that it was a patch used to reattach the broken parts, not original manufacturing. A customer standing in the shop also said the same thing — that it was not part of the original table but something new added to stick it together. Yet, despite this clear evidence, the staff continued insisting I should pay for the damage. This situation was extremely disappointing. I value honesty, and I believe any business that hires out items should first inspect them carefully before handing them to customers. If a product has already been repaired, it should be disclosed clearly to avoid confusion or false blame later. Using customers’ honesty as an opportunity to charge extra is simply wrong. I strongly ask the management of Bargain King Avondale to review how their hired items are checked and how staff deal with such situations. This kind of behaviour damages trust and reputation. A business that values its customers should never treat them like this. For other customers — please be careful when hiring any decorative tables or props from this store. Inspect the item thoroughly before you take it, and take photos if possible, because once you leave, they may claim it was broken by you even if it wasn’t. I truly hope the management reads this, investigates what happened, and ensures fairness and honesty in how customers are treated.

   Found this absolute gem of a shop when I was looking for artificial flowers for a bridal bouquet. There was an amazing range, great prices, lots of colours and quality selection of artificial flowers or finished flower arrangements. The shop is really well laid out and the pricing is good. The lady shop owner was so helpful and seemed to love her product. Will definitely go back again.
