This store is fabulous. This is amazing for getting Christmas presents . I always come here for activity books for kids before a flight to keep them busy. The staff is kind and helpful. There are great games at the back of the store.

Worst cust service ever,lady at checkout was so rude,just bought a teddy for baby 1 sec back i was literally was standing thr i told her to change it with something else but she was so rude. Wonβt recommend it.
19/8/22: I usually visit not long after opening so not many other customers in store. Shop here for items such as cards or wrapping paper to books or puzzles. Have always found the staff friendly and helpful and yes, sometimes I'm the annoying guy that doesn't know exactly what he's looking for. Anyway, it's rare for me to leave empty-handed. They're very good at researching and ordering books for me, too.
I went to whitcoulls in the month 06/2021 and I was pleased with the customer service and the wide variety of books available. I purchased stationary. The lighting in the store was good and the store was tidy. Whitcoulls have an online presence and they have gift cards that you can purchase. I highly recommend shopping here.
For the first time in my life I got told off for sitting 5mins reading a chapter of a book while my friend was looking around. During the 5 mins I spent there an employee came to me twice strongly hinting that I shouldn't be doing this unless I intended to purchase the book. I have been in several bookshops around the world and never have seen this before...
Whitcoulls Porirua....... I visited this store today, 1st November 2016 with my two children, - ages 7 years and 15 months old. We were in the store to purchase some toys. (Felt like treating my children.) I however, did not like the fact that one clerk (lady) felt the need to follow me and my son around the store and keep her eye on us - like we were going to 'rob' the store..... Smh! She did come and ask if we needed some assistance.. But from then on she continued to watch mine and my sons every move. I may not be a usual costumer but that does not mean I came to the store to steal....... I sure as heck felt discriminated against!!!!! Is it because I have tattoos? .... Is it because I have piercings? .... Oh actually - It's because I am brown with all of the of the above! Yes, I said it... A lot of people spoil it for the rest of us... I know that.... But we were the only brown folk in the store and not once did I see her do this to any other customers (whom were all of European decent). I for one, am NOT racist.... and I'll leave this for you to figure out the rest .......... We left with $50 worth of goodies and we will not be back... Well done Whitcoulls Porirua, we'll done!
