Black Africa is seriously the best Afro salon in New Zealand!! Maddie is the only person I trust with my hair. I have been going here for almost 10 years and Maddie has never let me down. Amazing service ~ she is kind, bubbly and fun which makes the time fly and makes getting your hair done feel like less of a chore. Her work is PERFECTION. From my sew ins to box braids, she always makes sure you are getting your moneys worth and takes good care of your hair during the process. She also provides amazing advice and good aftercare tips. I highly recommend booking with her for any Afro hair style, you will not be disappointed.
I had an awesome experience getting my dreads done! Maddy was incredible—super welcoming and made me feel at ease straight away. Her customer service was on point, really friendly and professional the whole time. You can tell she knows her stuff, from how she explained the process to the tips she gave me for maintenance. If you’re after someone who’s skilled, knowledgeable, and makes the whole experience enjoyable, I’d definitely recommend her!

Booked a appointment with them for 12 pm I asked for twists braids the lady didn’t even know how to do my hair was sitting there for 3 hours and she would try convince me to change the style to box braids which I asked for twists yet she still told me to do biz braids I denied I sat there from 12 to 4 and my hair was not even twist braids so I had told her I don’t want it that’s when she started convincing me to do box hair the customer service is so outrageously poor i do not recommed this place at all poor customer service and waste of time
What a vibe in this place!! I had a wonderful time doing my dreads there. I chose the best place to do it and it was done by the best one for sure!! Maddie... thank you so much for everything, you are marvelous. You made me feel really good all the time I spent there. Highly recommended!!
