Used to be a regular customer over the years, but recently the quality has really gone downhill while the price kept climbing. You have to pay extra ($0.50) for the noodles for the katsu bowl now which is extremely bland and oily. The bowls also barely had any salad. Poor service and dirty interior. Would not come back, which is unfortunate because the katsu bowls used to be really tasty and affordable.

I had a very disappointing visit to this store today with my nephew. After ordering, we sat down and immediately discovered our table was crawling with ants. It was disgusting and a major hygiene red flag. We quickly moved to another table and were so uneasy that we thoroughly checked our food for any bugs. Thankfully, the food itself seemed and tasted okay, which is the only reason this isn't a zero-star review. To make matters worse, a family with two young daughters arrived and, with no other tables available, had to sit at the very table we had just abandoned because of the ants. They only managed to move to our vacated table once we left, and they also looked very uneasy and were checking the area. This issue was clearly ongoing and putting multiple customers at risk. The most shocking part was the response when I politely informed a staff member at the counter on our way out. Her reply was a dismissive, "Oh yes, it's okay." No apology, no concern, no offer to make it right. This complete lack of care or responsibility for a basic hygiene issue is unacceptable. We will not be returning. I cannot recommend this place when basic cleanliness and customer service are so clearly neglected.

ANTS. We have been coming here for a couple months for lunch after sports and it has been great until today. There were ants crawling all over the sushi and in the cabinet. We didnβt noticed till after we picked a few. We told the lady and she just shrugged it off put our sushi back and that was that, disgusting and will not be returning.

Incredibly rude βserviceβ. Found this to be the case last time I went there, thought it was possibly a language barrier so thought Iβd give them another try. Asked if any of the sushi in the case was vegan, was told abruptly , βNo.β Tried to ask if they could make anything vegan and was told very dismissively βNo, no vegan!β I was pretty much waved out the door. Never encountered a sushi place that didnβt accomodate vegan options , but that wasnβt really the problem. The staff here are just RUDE!

We arrived unknowingly before opening time. The owner saw us and opened up for us and gave a great run down on the great variety of sushi they sell. The two in our group who are sushi fans were really impressed and loved the sushi. Definitely great sushi at a very reasonable price. You've got to try it.

One Sushi Upper Hutt is very different from the other stores from petone and in the city, the chicken katsu from there was dry chicken breast not the normal soft tender chicken thighs, the salad was only lettuce, unlike the other stores they have a combination of veges, would not go back to this one again

the sushi is way overpriced compared to the Lower Hutt store. Thereβs so selection and the sushi is much smaller. The sushi was hard and seemed like it had been there for hours (this was at 11am). Lower Hutt itβs the one to go for if youβre wanting good sushi and great katsu

Quite expensive. Nice food. Inside shop needs an update. Walls and tables and bin needs a really good clean. Highchair for a baby would be good. When ordering was hard as other language is used to shout out to other staff when still talking. I was cut in front of by another customer when was already ordering and nothing was said they just continued to take their order which I found extremely rude.

Sushi are tasty and fairly priced. The best options are fried chicken nibbles with spicey sauce and a stick. The sea food choose is excellent with prawn sticks being much cheaper than Lower Hutt and Wellington Sushi stores.
