Staff is nice and friendly, helpful. Rooms are old with reasonable price. Location is quite good to any where that is close by.

My car was stolen, got a call from my Facebook add claiming they Saw my car speeding round the area and then turned into this campsite, when I arrive there my car is on bricks and parts stripped, I ask everyone round no body knows anything all cracked out, apart from a nice lady who saw the crew coming in at late hours of the nights doing burnouts round the people staying here in my car. Go to the reception to gather the ccv footage of the group, and guess what she says the cameras don’t work, what great security this place has! Absolutely shocking the place is full of rubbish no cameras not safe at all for the average family to stay!

I have never stayed here and never wish to. My experience is from being a local and having to deal with the ongoing environmental pollution issues from this camp. We are a large group of dog owners in this area who walk our dogs in the adjacent park every day. The eyesore that is avondale motor camp infuriates us. The camp residents throw their rubbish into the Oakley creek area with zero respect for this waterway. This can include household rubbish, pallets, furniture, green waste, plastic, concrete, and parts of cars and bikes. Anytime there is a change of tenancy on the creek side, it looks like anything not wanted is tossed down the bank. We get to witness fights, bad language, and angry aggressive tied up dogs. We honestly cannot believe anyone would want to stay here - it is certainly not a 4 star stay as advertised in some places. We have often complained to the Auckland city council about rubbish etc, including one time when a resident cut down a very large tree and let the trunk and branches etc just fall into the creek. There has even been a car in the creek from this camp which was there for some time dispersing oil into the creek, before the wreck was removed. I’m not sure this is the correct place to vent my frustration but the owners do not seem to care about the surrounding area. Private homeowners would never be allowed to simply throw their rubbish into a protected waterway and get away with it.

The place is rundown and poorly maintained, similar to dilapidated trailer parks in the U.S. It seems to mostly house the homeless. It is not a place I would recommend to anyone, domestic or international, especially if safety and basic standards are a concern. Look at my photos if you don’t believe me!

*Please read before booking!!* If I could rate them no stars then I absolutely would. I had trouble trying to contact them after I had made my booking as I wanted to confirm if I was able to check in late. I rang 10+ times throughout the day before and the day of, with my partner also trying to reach them at different times as well. The phone number provided would just ring and ring and no-one ever answered. I also tried to email using the email address that was provided and it bounced back. I eventually contacted the third party that I had used to make the booking who assured me that they would contact them and confirm a late check in. I received an email stating that they had contacted Avondale Motor Park and confirmed a late check in. Upon arrival(1 hour after usual check in time) we noticed that the office was dark and had a closed sign up. The place itself wasn’t very nice, there was also an old mattress and fridge push up against the fence by the reception. I double checked my emails to see if I had any communication about how to check in late or what room we were in. There wasn’t any. There wasn’t any note or direction left behind for us and there was nobody in the office. I tried calling multiple times but no-one answered which was no surprise. I called the third party who also tried to contact the property and had no luck. I did try to do a lap of the place to see if we could maybe spot our room or if there was a note that was left for us. The whole camp didn’t look very clean or safe, the residents who live there were quite intimidating. I was also greeted by a drunk man who was lurking around the corner of the reception and was in the dark drinking beer. He tried to convince me to follow him(walking)and leave my car, asking if I had locked everything up etc. I refused and went back to my car and promptly left. Leaving 3 adults and 2 children without accommodation for the night as the only other available accommodation in the area was $900 for the night! Awful service, if you can even call it that considering there was no service! The camp itself was quite dirty looking and the residents weren’t nice at all. If you have children I would definitely not recommend this place as it didn’t feel very safe either especially with drunk residents lurking around. I don’t think that I would even trust my belongings to be left there if I wasn’t there. Such an awful place offering an awful experience!

Booked a Standard cabin Arrived at location, looked extremely run down with lots of suss people walking around. Got keys to “cabin”, it stunk of cigarettes to the point where you could taste it. Walls were full of holes, table was literally held together by duct tape. Walked straight back to reception and said there was no way I was staying there. They gave me my money straight back. I wouldn’t sleep here if I was homeless. Disgusting hell hole

We just booked in and walked straight back out.. Our cabin was rank with cigarette smoke we could taste it. . We could not sit in the cabin for long.. being winter we didn't want to have to keep windows open all day & night to air it out. Were given bedding for a fee.. pillows were yuck and all bedding stunk. Very delapidated furniture held together with tape. . We were to scared to sit on any. No heater whatsoever and they couldn't provide us with one. . Very threadbare carpet you could see through to floor boards. Walls bashed in in parts ..and stained. We decided to leave. Never to return.

Located in a quiet street in Avondale and is a short drive to Auckland CBD. Would only recommend if staying for one or two nights. A few permanent residents living on the property, unfortunately didn't make me feel completely safe at night. Toilets and bathroom were clean. Large camp kitchen was well lit but probably needs a bit of a revamp. Great gas stove top. Check-in process was nice and easy. Staff was flexible when I needed to change dates. Thank you!

After reading all the nad experiences of people staying here we decided to cancel our booking. We booked online at 7pm for staying the next day. We tried to call them next morning several times to cancel the booking but they did not answer. At the end after several emails sent their reply is basically they will keep the money even We did not stay with them. What a dodgy and fraudulent place. I really recommend if you want to stay in a nice area near by the beach and just 15 minutes driving to the city just stay at takapuna Beach holiday Park. Affordable and amazing.

I reserved a room for two night one month in advance but they sold out all the room when I reached there. They just told me to book another accommodation and don’t want to give compensation for the money I spent on another booking. It’s so horrible, I slept in the car for one night. Highly suggest everyone avoid this place. The worst experience i have ever encountered in my life.
