What a great experience. It was our first time to Daikoku and it was fantastic. We all loved it and were amazed by the service and the food. Very tasty, huge variety of food to choose from. Well worth going to as a group.

Daikoku on Quay St is definitely an experience worth trying at least once, especially if you enjoy teppanyaki-style dining where the chefs cook right in front of you. The atmosphere is lively, the chefs are entertaining, and the whole setup makes the night feel more like a performance than a standard dinner. The food itself was great β well-seasoned, cooked perfectly, and very enjoyable overall. Itβs the kind of place where you go not just to eat, but to be part of the show. We booked for 5.30pm and were seated right on time, so things started off well. However, they seemed quite short-staffed on the night. Even though we were seated promptly, we didnβt actually get our food until around 6.45pm, meaning we waited over an hour before the meal and entertainment began. That long gap did take away from the experience a bit, especially when youβre expecting the usual fast-paced teppanyaki service. Another disappointment was that we had planned to order the $75 Monthly Special β the one advertised with tuna steak, chicken thigh fillet, miso soup, salad, prawns, veggies, fried rice, and matcha cheesecake. We even rang beforehand to make sure it was available, and were told it was. But when we arrived, we were informed it wasnβt available at all. It was strange and a bit frustrating considering we confirmed it before booking. Price-wise, Daikoku is definitely on the expensive side. Youβre paying for the entertainment and the unique cooking style as much as the food. Because of that, itβs more of a βspecial occasionβ spot rather than somewhere youβd visit regularly. Overall, the entertainment and food are great, but the long wait time and the unavailable special β despite confirming it β made the experience feel a bit mixed. Still worth doing once, but probably not a regular dining choice.

Small place, great & friendly service, food is packed of flavors. The food had a good amount of meat which I didnβt expect. I had the tonkotsu ramen!

Excellent Japanese restaurant set in a traditional ambiance. The restaurant has an A grade by Auckland Council. The food was very tasty and the staff very friendly. Thereβs also a bar in the Japanese style.

Loved this experience - very entertaining and extremely delicious food. This was our first time and would definitely come back. We took their restaurant month offer for $118 which included 3 entree (tuna carpaccio, miso soup & salad, yumyum prawns & vegetables, salmon & scallop, wagyu beef from japan, chopchop egg fried rice and matcha cheesecake) all was outstanding. Would highly recommend!

Excellent teppanyaki experience that is accessible and open during lunch. The experience is as good as when I first ate here 10 years ago. All the chefs provide a fun atmosphere providing a unique table side cooking experience. Food itself is also very good quality would recommend 10/10.

Our chef was great. Friendly and the theatrics were top notch. The food were all nicely cooked. Price wasn't cheap but to be expected for a teppanyaki.
