This place has gone downhill massively! We ordered 3 dishes and they all tasted the same. No spiciness no numbness no nothing. Won’t go back for sure.
Well...hmm I'm not a fan of this one. From my prospective Hunan cousine supposed to be hot, spicy, a bit salty, a bit oily and with heaps of chillies. They seem to be very mild or should I say "compromised"? I'm not saying they are not delicious but thet simply are not good enough for me to return. My expectations to Xiang series dishes are yummy enough making me nonstop eating rice. Unfortunately, this is not the right place for me. But if you are looking for any Chinese restaurant this is the venue for you. Service was actually not bad you definitely can enjoy a meal.
The meat was super tender. The food was so good. This was hunan toufu and pork belly dry pot.
Food was alright, probably because my partner got what he wanted lol.
Visited this restaurant on Saturday, place was quiet I was the only one customer there. Waiter gave the menu but water wasn’t served in the beginning. The waitress was not good with English and was hard to understand whether the dish was dry or gravy item. Finally I made up my mind to go with the waitress suggestion which was spicy beef on steamed which was good. Water was served after I started eating. No music was played it was very quiet. Water bottles were not clean so I didn’t feel like drinking water from there. Food was okay so my suggestion will be just just getting it takeaway.
Wife been to this place numerous times and whom recommended hence we went together. I cannot understand why all the teapots look so filthy and dirty but the owners still using them? They look disgusting. Food was chinese country taste and not cheap. The owner did give you what you want but he never say thank you. Will I return? Probably, but not in the near future.
Zheng Kee does the best Stewed Pork Dry Pot in Auckland that I've had so far. The pork is perfectly cooked and succulent, and the flavours are delicious. We also had their Octopus special which was delicious, however the portion was only average because the plate was so filled with chillies. The rest of the dishes are usually generous in though. Their rice is really tasty too. Their service is fast and the food comes out piping hot. We love this place for their authentic Chinese dishes.
Would recommend for a large group, delicious Hunan cuisine. The beef dry pot is very delicious and the cow stomach is treated well, removed of any funny smells. The beef is tender and the pepper is aromatic. The chicken was good with spicy sauce, and although I remain undecided about how I feel about the stinky tofu - it’s definitely towards the type of dish rather than the cooking itself. Other wise very good experience. The service was great, quiet staff who were very polite and attentive!
