The many other reviews capture the essence of this special hotel that combines a quirky and personal concept with high quality and comfort at every turn. Other elements to mention and for potential clients to be aware of include: Split level site and steps including across a small side-road Quiet and calm ambience encouraged in design and execution for 'couples' rather than groups Set menu and evening meal timing have limited flexibility Availability of 'Picnic' Jeeps to hire (well worthwhile to explore the island but book in advance - we did not!) 2 nights here not enough!

I received a voucher to come here from my employer … I was absolutely blown away with the VIP treatment, we stayed in one of the boatsheds, the rooms were well appointed with great views, very comfortable bed with all the cool little extras. Breakfast was next level with those breathtaking views & all our extra requests weren’t a hassle for the friendly staff. Thanks team!

Wow, just wow. Easily the equal of any place we have stayed -- which is admittedly surprising. We were so lucky to have made this our first destination after our flight from the US, so much better to start with a unique place that reflects the vision of its owners and the beauty of its location. One of those wonderful places where they have thought of everything already and then anticipate anything else you might request. Take the finest places to stay in Big Sur, Carmel, Napa and Mendocino, roll them into one, throw in a dash of British Columbia, and you get the Boatshed. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful stay and for kicking off our bucket-list vacation in NZ so well.

Stunning. The location is beautiful, the interior well-designed and welcoming and the staff are friendly and attentive. Our dinner and our breakfasts were superb - local food, wonderfully cooked and flavoured and creatively presented. An atmosphere of relaxed calm abounds at this boutique hotel. We loved it.

We celebrated a weekend of our honeymoon at the Boatshed Hotel and we fell in love. Jonathon and his team made us feel like we were the only guests at the hotel. From picking us up at the ferry, giving us charcuterie and wine upon welcoming us into the lobby, and spending every meal overlooking the ocean. We will be back and cannot talk higher about our experience at the Boatshed it was heaven on earth.

Hotel has great views and overlooks a plethora of boats sailing in and out all day. The hotel is a boutique hotel with quirky features, the staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast and the evening meal are top notch. We were served a wonderful 4 course menus of fresh local dishes. We would definitely return to Waiheke Island and The Boatshed would be our first stop.

We just returned from a trip to New Zealand, and staying at The Boatshed on Waiheke Island (just off the coast of Auckland) was a highlight. I really can’t recommend it enough: The staff was warm and genuine, and the island views seemed to go on forever. It was amazing to wake up to breakfast each morning, and the resort offered many well-appointed tables and reading nooks, perfect for enjoying coffee, a meal, or a glass of wine from a local winery. I would rate this a don’t-miss if you are traveling to Auckland; the island is amazing, and I’m so glad we stayed at The Boatshed.

From the moment we were picked up from the ferry our time at the Boatshed was magical. When Jonathan and Harry the dog met us at the door you almost have the sense that you are family. As you walk into this understated gem you are filled with a warm, comfortable vibe. Our room was called the Bridge room. It was light and airy and had a view you can only dream about. At night slipping into the soft, crisp sheets was a perfect way to sleep away our jet lag. And oh! The food was amazing! I am gluten free and there was always a homemade selection for me. Whether it was the delightful breakfasts or the romantic dinner, it was as they say, seed to table with most ingredients picked from the beautiful garden in back. Leona and the entire staff always made sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. My only complaint is that our time at the Boatshed was too short.

WOW! We stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon and would highly recommend it for a special trip. Yes, this is a more expensive place to stay, but it is well worth it! Everything is taken care of down to the finest of details, and the meals were amazing. Some of the highlights included: 1. Breakfast - there was a cooked savory and a sweet option each morning which varied daily, in addition to a beautiful buffet of fruit, breads, yoghurt, fresh juice and barista-made coffee. Their two options were better than any I've seen on a breakfast menu of any length. It was cooked beautifully and there was so much, we really didn't need lunch! 2. In-room bar - a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks were provided free of charge and topped up throughout our stay. Lovely home-made biscuits were provided each day which we thoroughly enjoyed. 3. Turn-down service - while at breakfast and dinner, the fire in our room was lit, and other little touches provided. 4. Jeep hire - we hired the jeep and went around the island for a day. Petrol was included and this made the process so easy. 5. View - the view of the water/beach is spectacular. You can sit there for hours. 6. There is always someone in the main building who is happy to make you a drink or answer any questions. 7. Garden - much of the fruit/veg is grown on-site, and the grounds are much larger than we expected. We enjoyed walking through the garden. 8. Pick-up and drop-off from the ferry was so easy, we just let them know the time of the ferry we were getting on and they were there waiting for us.
