Took our fluffy boy Teddy for his first haircut, he is a Toy Poodle and they did a fantastic job. I highly recommend taking your beloved dog here.

The barking lot are always so responsive and easy to deal with. They are great at letting us know if there are last minute spots for our wee dog and reply to messages in the weekend. Our dog always comes home happy (and exhausted) from being there all day!! The grooming is also wonderful and a super decent price.
The staff and service here is great. My small puppy (9.5 months) has been going here for 5 months now and LOVES it. Staff are attentive, responsive and manage your dogs day based on their needs. Great value for money too. My dog rolls around as she is close to the ground and they wipe her down before she leaves - lovely gestures! Photos are taken and uploaded online so you can see your pup having fun too. I recommend the Barking Lot to everyone I know with a dog. I’ve read the (very few) negative reviews - and I think you should remember people usually only go out of their way to give feedback when it’s bad, not good.
They know the dogs well and our boy has a great time. Plus we see them on Instagram!
We had our bichon groomed there a few years ago, and part of his ear was cut off, and they offered a $15 discount on the groom to “make it better”. Our boy is literally the calmest boy ever and he got this treatment! Terrible general groom also! I meant to write this a while ago and I see from recent reviews nothing has changed.
We had an unhappy grooming experience at The Barking Lot. Our instructions were not followed. Our dog's lower underside got shaved completely bald to the skin, despite us stating never to shave to less than 1cm. His ears have been cut in a lopsided way and bits hacked at the top. His snout is uneven on one side. Nails are hardly shorter at all. We understand that dogs can get matted fur but the quality of the groom was poor. Our dog has been very anxious and depressed since the groom, still one week on.
My dog has been coming here since it opened and he still loves it! We’ve been to other doggy daycares in Wellington but this one has been the best in terms of location and price. The staff really know what they’re doing and so good at letting you know how your dog is doing through their insta-stories and social media. The grooming is great too. We feel like The Barking Lot is a big family and truly feel part of the community.
