An outstanding level of care was shown to be for my surgery I had at southern cross. All the nurses that came in to check on me were lovely and so patient and helpful!
Fantastic hospital, all the staff from the reception, nurses, specialists are all incredibly supportive and listen and take the stress out of the process.
I had a surgery in November/2024 to remove an uterus fibroid and I had the best treatment and service ever. I felt I was a queen, the hospital team was amazing, since the punctual admission, to the tour in the hospital, the waiting room very comfy with a lazy boy and a warm blanket and nice socks. I love the menu showing the food options for my stay, I could choose. The room after the surgery was very comfortable, private with a nice window view and nice toilet. The food was amazing, the nurses very sweet taking care of me. The checkout was great, I got all the instructions to finish the treatment at home, from the nurse. I just want to say thank you for everything. Thank you to my amazing doctor Andrew Murray as well. This is the best and the most modern hospital I have been. Everything was incredibly perfect. I recommend 100%.
I have just got home from a 3 night stay at Southern Cross Hospital in Wellington after a scheduled operation. I was blown away by the skill, care, attentiveness, professionalism, kindness and generosity shown by ALL the staff. It was very conducive to facilitating a fantastic recovery. The food was wholesome & delicious and I wanted for nothing. They were welcoming and relaxed as other family members visited and I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of such fine care...and very pleased I didn't cancel my private health insurance when I was about to need it the most! Thank you all :)

Went to see Dr Heinau today he is an incredibly kind thorough surgeon . I suffer badly with medical anxiety himself, the nurse ,the radiologist, also the girls at front desk are so reassuring. Highly recommend Southern Cross Newtown . Thank you .
I had a the best experience I could have ever asked for. I had massive anxiety before the surgery and all the staff that I dealt with were absolutely amazing. I had lumbar fusion rods and screws l5 to s1 replaced vertabrae and bone graft. Before the surgery I limped into the hospital hunched over. It's been 7 days and I can walk around the house without that pain, it's a bit tender from surgery as expected. The surgeon was amazing the after care was amazing the food was great. They got me walking a day later and the encouragement and support was so good. Thank you southern cross and the team you looked after me and welcomed my wife and our young kids.
Have had 2 surgeries here in the last year and a half, the nurses are so lovely, attentive and you can tell they genuinely care. Thanks for lovely experiences Southern Cross and team.
Really lovely staff, nurses, surgery staffs etc so good even with a super anxious person like myself. Definitely recommend this place if you can afford it you’ll be very well looked after. Little bit OTT with the covid stuff. Even though me and sister were triple RAT tested I still had to put a face mask on as soon as I could after surgery, and sister had to have it on at all times too. Wish it was a little more simple when you need a surgery there and just 1 package including all fees, surgeon fees, Anastasia fees, hospital fees etc all in one rather than finding out new bits and costs as you go. Overall a very good experience and most covid stuff probably out of their control
