I got my nails done from here for a friend’s wedding. It was a really disappointing experience. First the lady was not able to do the design i asked so i asked her to change it after seeing just one nail and she started getting angry on me. The nails she did were pretty ugly. I got a stone embedded which came-off within 2 days! The shaping was off and so was the design which she just somehow managed to draw on my nails :(

I highly recommend that nobody go here. I booked a full bridal package (hair, nails, toes, eyelashes) for myself and my bridesmaids a month in advance. On the day, Amy personally messaged me saying she was already in the salon, but when we arrived at 9am she didn’t show up until about 11:30am, with no apology. Instead of looking after us (the ones with appointments), she kept taking walk-ins and ignoring me, even after I reminded her I was the bride and had other things booked that afternoon. My bridesmaids waited over an hour just to get their toes done. After we argued about the delays and her treatment, she then cancelled my wedding-morning hair altogether and refused to do my eyelashes and brows. Days before my wedding I was left stressed, in tears, and scrambling to find someone else. In my experience she is rude, unreliable, and not honest about where she is or what she can deliver. I would never trust her with anything important, especially not a wedding.

You lost a loyal customer !!! Visited as a walk in at lower Hutt branch today, for my nails (SNS) & Touchup with hi lights. Nails were done amazingly by the staff - no complaints. HAIR - so the staff does not understand “English”. She calls Amy who is at her different store atm. Amy attends me on the call, I explain to her that I want to do touch up and tone my hair, she speaks with the staff, staff starts with the touch up, Amy arrives and starts my hi lights, leaves my seat multiple times to visit others comes back, completes the hi-lights and does check up after sometime :) All good so far! Then she asks me to go to the basin seat, and advises a one of staff to wash my hair one of the other staff to prepare my toner. I confirm with the staff for the toner shade and she replies the same as Amy asked for. Amy is attending different client and she returns, while I confirm with her again if it is the ash blonde toner she responds “yes”, I trust her as she has done my hair before. While the staff is applying toner - which she was clearly doing it for first time, Amy leaves to attend her another client in other store. My hair is washed and dried now by the staff, as seen below it’s all patchy and not what I asked for. Staff calls Amy, and Amy’s response is as below “ Oh we do hilight so brown is seen and ash blonde is seen, that’s how it is suppose to be” I said no the whole point of this was to create a blend, Amy says “ I’m very busy with other customer, talk later,” talks something to the staff !!” & disconnects the phone. At this point I was furious and decided to leave, while paying the bill, the staff charges me full amount, I ask her the breakdown, she doesn’t understand, we play translate translate on the app for 2 mins and I finally give up, staff calls Amy again, she goes I’m very busy with other client, you make the full payment and come back later I’ll look at it “!!! At this point I make the payment and leave and decide that will never come back. This has always been the case when it comes to service and I understand it is not easy running a business, but when you decide to take on a client you are responsible for it. If you know you cannot serve the customer at that point, ask them to come back later if a walk in, and they will understand, don’t just ruin someone’s day !!

Kind of a unique perspective I suppose, but I’m a tall cis guy who’s been coming to Amy’s for my nails for about 2 years now and every single time they’ve been just so lovely and welcoming. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a kinder salon, for sure. So one thing I can definitely say is that if you’re not a cis woman and want to do your nails, the staff at Amy’s will likely be very nice to you! That’s worth a lot, I think. Admittedly, the quality can vary based on the experience of the technician, but I imagine that’s the case for any salon. And in Amy’s case she specifically makes opportunities for people to come from Vietnam to work and live here, to train up in a professional skill, which I personally think is really cool. I’m willing to accept a slightly imperfect nail job sometimes (especially at their prices) knowing that. After all, it’s just nails and they can always be redone or grow out. But 99% of the time they’re perfect, and no matter what my experience there is good. I would say that if you don’t have experience working with people whose first language isn’t English and are concerned about communication (for hair especially), just call ahead and ask if you can book with someone confident in English. They’ll set you up no problem. Oh they also have great hours later into the night after work, and accept walkins. Very convenient spot! Picture below is ~1 month from my last appt, SNS (dip) powder which I highly recommend for those who work with their hands or experience chipping with gels

I came here during their full body hot stone massage promotion- $50 for a whole hour! I had booked a two person massage so my gf and I did it at the same time. It was certainly money well spent. I was so relaxed, the service was lovely and even included complimentary tea afterwards which was such a thoughtful gesture. I would definitely come back again.

Amazing service! Seriously, one of the best salons in Wellington. Amy's team is professional. I was served two delicious coffee. Phuong is my hairdresser, very polite and with good knowledge and skills cutting my hair and preparing for the permanent straightening. Result was unbelievable. Amy's salon offers range of service. I enjoyed my time and service that provides by them.

Helen is amazing. So friendly and really good at what she does. I broke one of my nails a few days after getting it done and she completely fixed it up for me at no extra cost even though it was my fault. Thanks for the great service

i got my lashes permed @ this salon and after only an hour after the treatment my lashes went flat / more straight than they were before the treatment. The staff were nice, but they must've over processed my lashes because they look like I didn't just spend $75 on them to be lifted. I really hope I could get a refund because I need them done and if not here then somewhere else.
