Don’t go. Refrain. Eat elsewhere. That’s an advice to stop you from paying top dollars for a pitiful service and sub standard food, yawn slow service and inability to respond to customer requests - even a simple eye contact. A NYE made uneventful and all the waitresses do is expect sympathy because they have been called out to fill in on the busiest day. Creme BrΓ»lΓ©e was finished even when the restaurant was not busy - like why won’t the chef plan for it on NYE? Veg pizza was more green leaves than veggies. Bread came cold even when we asked for it to be warmed. Wines are acidic. And the waitresses had to reminded constantly for meals ordered but not delivered. The pizza oven that was temporarily closed because of rains made exceptions for some guests while we, who had requested for a pizza being vegetarians, had to enquire if the chef can make us a pizza for the main course. Why would a restaurant appear to make it for one group and not for the other? There is a stream of 1-star reviews on Google. Does the restaurant even pay attention to these reviews? Without that, there is no chance in hell this restaurant can improve. It feels harsh to be this direct but when you pay top dollars wanting to make your NYE eventful and walk away feeling disappointed despite high prices paid, how to be kind? My family did eat a LOT of bread. This is a shame as I enquired in advance if the restaurant can cater for vegetarians and was told it will. I didn’t expect bread as that option.

We sat in the garden as there were six of us, you can place your order at the bar or use the QR code on the table. The only time we saw a waitress was when we ordered food or drink as we used the QR code. The service was quite quick, the brisket burgers were nice, although not enough meat as you couldn't taste it and no salt and chips are extra, the pizzas were a good size and tasty once we added some salt, the toasties were ok. We had a cup of icecream each with 2 scoops which was the size of a single scoop anywhere else and very expensive $10 each. Overall it's not value for money.

The Hunting Lodge is such a beautiful wedding venue. As a wedding photographer, I always love shooting here. The grounds are stunning year-round, and the sunsets over the vineyards are next level. There are several ceremony options, including right at the edge of the vines or beside the iconic Barn. I also love the vintage caravan bar, it adds such a fun, relaxed energy and looks amazing in photos! With their in-house wine, relaxed vibe, and versatile indoor-outdoor flow, The Hunting Lodge is one of the best winery venues in Auckland :)

We went for a birthday/wedding and had a six course meal @ $105 per person plus drinks. The food was very ordinary and minimal with the cream brulee tasting of salmon? Definitely not worth the money and wouldn't recommend The Hunting Lodge to anyone

We have eaten here on a weekend and the food was delicous and the service was fun while good. We also came to a wedding in the barn a month ago and it was so good - food and wine 10/10. Most recently we did an online order of wine and to say we love the great selection you have would be an understatement. The seasonal chardonnay is an all time favourite of mine and now the hubby has started drinking it too - which is a problem !!!!!

Brittany was simply lovely - friendly and smiling, truly engaging with us. Thank you. Great wine selection and tasty pizza, too. A great place to while away an hour or two.

Yesterday I had a meeting with a friend at the Hunting Lodge at their Lawn Bar. The weather was miserable and rainy. One of the staff John, was so lovely and accommodating. He offered us blankets and to turn the outdoor heater on so we could still enjoy the beautiful outdoor area. The food was delish as always with a glass of wine. A big thank you to John for going the extra mile. We'll definitely be back soon!
