Stunning views and beautiful food, personal favourite was the bruschetta. Iced coffee was delicious & perfect for a warm Wellington day. Booked through first table and was greeted with great service. Would definitely recommend & will definitely be back again soon.

Well well well … what an awesome surprise. Acting out our daughter’s recommendation, we decided to try a well place Wellington shoreline cafe! Opting for just a light Saturday lunch, our party of four were welcome by extremely friendly and pleasant staff. We decided to take up dinning seating on their lower enclosed side deck, that rests inches off the lapping waters, providing a tranquil and delightful near eye level view of the bay. Establishment staff are courteous and informed, certainly in our opinion. For out light lunch, the fish and chips (with a glass of wine) for $30 was well plated, and undoubtably a larger portion than what we were expecting. Whether the plated portion of two (non-oily) decent sized pieces of deliciously-flakey, catch of the day and a proper crispy-crispy serving of fries or their spicy chicken burgers and accompanying fries and milkshakes … our plates were clean by all, not a crumb, not a morsel left-over or wasted!! We will be back, come summer to enjoy the outdoor dinning! Well done crew!! Truly a great find!

Photo attached. I ordered "LOADED TRUFFLE FRIES Fries, truffle, parmesan, beef cheek, rich gravy" It has 5 very small chunks of average beef and a swamp of gravy at the bottom. It was disgusting. The coffee was mid. I went with two other people who also had very average food. It is such a pity because the location and venue is fun and different. Staff fine. Would not recommend going to this cafe.

We stumbled upon The Boat on a gloomy Wellington day, and it turned out to be the highlight of our week. Honestly, the current 3 star rating doesn’t do this place justice – it’s clear there’s been a change in management or direction, because the food and service were nothing short of exceptional. The seafood chowder was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time – rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. And don’t get me started on the truffle loaded fries… crispy, indulgent, and absolutely addictive. My partner had the wagyu burger and couldn’t stop raving about it – perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth beef with all the right fixings. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely – they even offered us a table with the best view overlooking Oriental Bay, which made the experience even more special despite the weather. This place oozes charm and comfort, and with food this good, it truly deserves to be packed. If you’re reading this and have been on the fence because of old reviews – don’t be. The Boat is a 5-star experience through and through. Highly recommend!

Spent a few days in Wellington, stayed across the road from the boat cafe so far to go for breakfast, I loved the idea of breakfast on a boat. The decor was a bit rustic with a real need to fix the windows but the pancakes were delicious, will come again

Nothing special. Average place and average taste. Nothing too amazing. Had fish and chips. Taste was fine. Not too good but not too bad either.

Our usual go-to lunch restaurant when visiting Wellington’s Oriental Bay, but NO MORE!! Disgusting old chips refried for the umpteenth time. Fish was just as bad having been fried in old oil!! When we complained, the waitress said she would bring us a fresh batch of chips. FRESH??? Then she said fresh oil was used. Look at the photos.

Nothing fancy just just good food and a neat atmosphere. We had lamb and fish burgers which were very nice, the portion of fries was a little small, but the burger was a little large, so it works. Staff was friendly and helpful even on a quiet Monday evening.
