I personally think this is more like a wine/bar place rather than a food place, even though the food is served and charged like fine dining. Food is quite pricey, and the portions of entrees and mains are very small. The two main dishes we ordered, beef and lamb, both a bit lack of flavor. Service is great, probably the only highlight I could think of.

Great meal at Noble Rot. Scallops were fresh and delicate, the proteins were cooked perfectly, and the sauces were rich and well-balanced. The crispy-skin fish was a standout. Some dishes leaned a bit classic and could use more colour or acidity, and the dessert felt slightly heavy, but overall a very well-executed, enjoyable dinner.

Noble Rot – Wellington Noble Rot is an absolute gem. The contemporary food is crafted with finesse, inventive, beautifully plated, and bursting with flavour. Every dish feels thoughtfully designed to complement what is, without question, the best wine list I’ve seen in a long time. Their cellar is extraordinary, offering both rare finds and approachable favourites, all paired with expert guidance from the team. The service is impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, and clearly passionate about both food and wine. Dining here feels like being welcomed into a space where excellence is the standard. It’s a place I highly recommend for anyone who appreciates fine dining and exceptional wine. A true Wellington treasure.

It’s more a wine tasting place. Good deal from First Table. Food was served like Fine dinning. Love the fish and the scallop. Pumpkin was yum too. Venison was alright as the texture was bit weird. Everything is quite pricey. I think it’s better to bring your own wine to taste there.

A very good dining experience. Lovely ambience for intimate dining or more casual in the bar area. We had wonderful service from Jessica - attentive but discreet. The mains menu is not large (1 of: vegetarian, fish, pork, lamb or beef). We shared a couple of starters on a board - everything was delicious. Perfect timing between our starter and mains coming out. The mains were cooked perfectly and full of flavour, prepared with love. The most extensive wine stock I have ever come across. First time in ages we have both left a restaurant and completely satisfied with the food and service.

Amazing wine bar. Always a great selection of food and wine, and friendly staff. Would love it more if there were more vegetarian and vegan options.

Delicious food with perfect wine food matching. Recommend you ask the sommelier for advice. Good ambiance. Genuinely friendly staff. Prices on the high side but that reflects the high quality

The best wine-experience we've ever had, on any continent! My wife and I were on our anniversary in New Zealand, and happened to be in Wellington for a single night before catching the ferry the next morning. We heard great things about Noble Rot and their tasting menu (degustation menu), so we made our way down the alley and grabbed our outdoor table. We decided to include the wine-pairing experience with our tasting menu, and I'm so glad we did. We're fortunate to have done wine tastings all over the world - I can confidently say that Jessica at Noble Rot was the best wine-guide we've EVER had. Thoughtful, entertaining, engaging, and informative, she made us feel like we knew each wine's history, who grew the grape, how it was grown, what the weather was like that year, and how all of these things impacted its flavor. It was amazing! If you're heading to Noble Rot, go for the tasting (degustation) menu, and add in the wine-paring, especially if Jessica is working that evening! It's worth every penny for the experience.

Fantastic dining experience. The wine selection is incredible - I love the fact the menu is 2 or 3 times larger than the food menu. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the wait staff were lovely. I found they were great at recommending wine matches for food choices which was great for a novice like me. The food was delicious, my wife and I happily spent 2 and a half hours enjoying ourselves. We'll definitely be going back.
