   Enjoyed the wonderful food and service at Mariluca Ristoro in Thorndon last night. Hosted by Tom. Our Waiter was Imogen. We started with Grigliata Impanata di Pesce (mussles, squid and prawns). Herbed bread crumbed with Sicilian dressing cooked to perfection. For our mains we shared probably the best duck sauce pappardelle and fresh pasta ribbons with beef ragu sauce we have experienced outside of Italy. Both dishes were stunning. The food was complimented with a fine Italian red wine. Any restaurant that has been running since 2011 and has survived the Covid era has a lot going for it. Give it a try.

   MariLuca was perfect for our family group of 5 people. We were all really happy with our meals. My mushroom risotto was delicious with a perfect mushroom - rice ratio. Fir dessert, the almond orange cake was delicious. The stand-out feature was the exceptional, welcoming service. Highly recommend.

   We were so lucky to find this place! Tuesday night was steady with lots of locals dining in. The fire place was lively as were the fabulously wait staff. Highly recommend the seafood breaded entree, wow wow wow. I could eat that every night of the week. We ordered the carbonara, market fish special, the lamb and the risotto. Every dish was carefully crafted and the flavours perfectly balanced. Compliments to the chef! We can’t wait to come back on our next trip to Wellington. Thanks again for a brilliant night.

   We popped into this restaurant mainly because it was close to our accommodation, and what a happy surprise it turned out to be! By day it’s quite unassuming, but in the evening it transforms into a warm, inviting little gem. The staff were so lovely, friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food and wine they serve. We started with the bruschetta, which was divine, you could really taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. For mains, we had the gnocchi and the lamb, cooked to absolute perfection. The pistachio gnocchi was rich, indulgent, and a little bit naughty… but such a treat! Definitely one to try if you’re in the area. We were super impressed!

   First, the food was fine. The service today however was not so good. The Filapino lady was great but the others need hospitality training. You simply do not throw dessert spoons across the table. It was also very cold in the restaurant at midday.

   Great place for cozy dinner with loved ones. Entree are delicious and awesome. Recommend the seafood. Mains are filling and mildly tasty. You may want to use pepper if you prefer a heavier taste. Recommend the Linguine.
