Great service. Food was good, delicious onion bhaji, although the butter chicken was a bit sweet. Good portion sizes
The place is scary dim and dark. The food was cooked for a very long time and even after we tasted it, we could only sweet sugary flavor like in the butter chicken. Nothing special at all in this place, like what the reviews said. I wonder how your restaurant can still survive and not go into liquidation with this standard. I've tried The Royal Indian next door and it is much better.
Seriously one of the best indian restaurants in auckland! the onion bhaji, samosa chaat and lamb nawabi dishes were a particular hit in our family. The naan is to die for, buttery almost like roti, might not be too everyone’s taste but our kids couldn’t get enough of it. Looks a bit dated walking in but don’t be tricked, would highly recommend!
I got a good takeaway meal from Kohinoor and will go back again. I always test out a new place with the lamb biryani, which is a favourite of mine. Theirs is very tasty. Good balance of lamb and rice. Lovely spice flavour too. I ordered medium and it was just right. The staff were polite and pleasant to me and I didn't have to wait too long. Price was reasonable too.
Dear The Owner of Kohinoor Indian Restaurant, I visited your restaurant for dinner with my boyfriend yesterday and was very disappointed to witness inappropriate behaviour from your kitchen staff towards a delivery driver. We saw that the food was already prepared and sitting on the counter. The driver politely asked one of the chefs to hand it over, but the chefs refused, stating that it wasn’t their job and that he would have to wait for the waitress—who was actively serving us at the time. One of the chefs even yelled at the driver, telling him to either wait or cancel the order. It was shocking, especially since the food was already ready and right in front of them. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable in our community. We try our best to support local businesses, but we cannot support a business that treats people—especially hardworking delivery drivers—with such disrespect. I hope you will look into this matter seriously and take steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Sincerely, Justine
What a Amazing Restaurant GEM OF INDIA. Ohh sorry what a worst Restaurant Kohinoor Indian Restaurant. Just now had a vegetarian platter sorry not had just 1 and the last bite of amazing platter. Lucky you GUYZZ left otherwise I was about to ask you sit and first eat yourself what you are making. FULL OF SALT. Looks like it is a Salty Platter. Items missing as mentioned on the website. I think I am never coming back but everyone going there I would say eating here is waste of your time and money. There are many Indian Restaurants far better than this.
Good takeaway food, but this time before going to the movies we decided to dine in. Not a great choice. The food was still very good, but the atmosphere and staff were not happy to be working there is all I can imagine. No smiles even then tried our best to engage them. Sullen faces and no care. But at least the food was good. Maybe just get takeaways from Kohinoor
We travelled NZ alot and tried so many foods. Today we visited first time at Kohinoor. To be very Honest this is THE BEST FOOD we had in NZ in Indian restraunts. Food is excellent, well cooked. Had great vege options. No colors in food. My son fell in love with Pashevari Naan. Food is cooked by heart. Staff is great. Would love to say big Thankyou to chef. Customer service sucks. There's a big guy that tries to intimidate you if you have doubts about the order. I felt like if I asked more questions he'd beat me up. People like that don't deserve to be at the service sector. There are other jobs where they would fit in better. Food being tasty is not the only thing that attracts customers, you need some pleasant staff too. This will the the only reason I won't be going there or recommending this place to anyone.
