    Nice cozy little place, each table with its own little booth separated by dividers. An abundance of great selections ordered through an app, coming out a couple dishes at a time. As you'd expect from Japanese cuisine, it's a little pricey but perfectly flavourful and great to have once in a while. Parking situation is listed as one hour but if you dine in there with them, they can put your registration through to allow up to four hours.

    I ordered 5 dishes for dinner and received the first one in 35 minutes. The second dish came 20 minutes later, the third 2 minutes after that, the fourth 5 minutes later, and the final dish arrived 10 minutes after that. When I asked the female staff member after waiting an hour, she said she would check but never came back to me. I don't think any of the dishes should have taken over an hour. Didn't fill me up, so I ended up going to McDonald's. My Valentine's Day was ruined.

    UNKAI is a spectacular hidden Japanese restaurant in albany, and presents an authentic Japanese culinary experience. All the ingredients are super fresh and the recipes stay true to what Japanese cuisine should be. I highly recommend for instance the aburi salmon with its lightly charred flavour, truly an amazing taste for such a low price. Having paid so little for so much i couldn’t be more satisfied with my orders. On top of this, the atmosphere imbued by the quaint restaurant reminds me a lot of the small diners in Tokyo, making for a nice layout. Be prepared however that the restaurant uses an online menu to order through a QR code on the table, and they will ask upon your entry for your car license plate. A fantastic unknown little Japanese restaurant for a low price.

    This is the best Japanese restaurant in Auckland in my opinion! The chef who makes the sushi is very professional! The sashimi is great too, the salmon is fresh and the best parts are used! The beef donburi is especially good, the meat is so creamy and the sauce is so sweet! I would love to come back!
